It might help to detail the whole series of events here, and being experienced in on-line business activities you will get some opinions posted here, if anyone feels you may be getting scammed. You can leave out the name of the company or persons involved for the moment.Regards,Ralph

O.K. Here is the whole story almost 4 week ago bought a knife on another forum private sale I sent the guy a US postal money order for the knife, he(seller) claimed he been rip-off by fake money order so he has to clear it first before shipping. I told him that's fine & he can cash the money order at any US post office but he insisted on deposited & have his bank clear it, anyway it took two weeks & he finally said it was cleared told me twice he will ship it out but no knife ever show up. I email him a few time reguarding my knife his explaination was he got called up claim to be LE, then on Tue(8-23) told me he couldn't find my address & will send my knife out ASAP. Today, I ask him about tracking number & no reply. Guys does that sound like a scam? Thanks for any inputs!

Since you used a USPS money order, you can report him to the Postal Inspectors as defrauding you.

Those Postal Inspectors take that very seriously.

Well if he was so worried about the Postal Money Order being fraudulent,it would have made more sense to cash it at the Post Office were they have a hot sheet to check it against. This long of delay, and no answers to e-mail with a shipping proof,I would be very suspicious myself. If he does not repond back with proof of shipment by Friday,I would file charges with the Postal Inspectors. It has been long enough.

Sorry to hear you're having these issues, hopefully it'll all get sorted out.

I'd say the main lesson here is to do your research before you agree to a deal, and trust your instincts when you communicate about the deal. Most folks that do deals on forums like these or on e-bay will have some sort of feedback.

Another thing to keep in mind is that people vary quite a bit when is comes to issues such as what exactly "ASAP" means. Although for most it means As Soon As Possible, apparently for others it means As Soon As i Phucking feel like it. Also, some folks will talk a good deal and have great communication right up until they get their end, and then their motivation takes a serious nose-dive. So I wouldn't give up yet, and definitely keep the pressure on.

Good luck.

I purchase mostly using the USPS money orders. I will say-they have had a problem with stolen USPS money orders, but I haven't heard about any fake USPS money orders. I'm sure it's possible, If I were personally concerned about rec. a phony USPS m/o I would have went straight to the local p/o to cash? Good Luck. You may have to contact his att. gens. office?

Hi guys, Today, I finally received my knife! It was only after I emailed the guy if I don't receive it I will report it to the USPS for mail fraud. He send it Next Day Air! First I want to post his name & from which forum but after all I did receive my knife & I think he lost a little on the deal because of the next day air postage. If anyone wants to know send me a PM or Email. I want to thank everyone for their supports! Really appreciated!

Your profile appears not to allow emails and PM's (unless my browser is having issues). I would like to know the person's name; you can email me at mattecook(at)excite.com.

Thanks.

If you send his name to everyone who asks for it, you may as well post it here so people who are not aware of this thread can do a search on a seller's name and find your story. I'm not saying that you should post his name, but sharing it with people that post their email address here is fairly pointless IMO.

He might hesitate to post their name in case it was just clumsiness (they did end up sending it, right?). But if he e-mails a few people and they all had the same problem with the same person...
