What are some high-end knives?

I don't know your situation, but I made my order directly with RHK initially, but the wait was 4 months. So I took their advice, ordered from BladeHQ, drop shipped to RHK for double thumb lug then, RHK shipped after finished - process took a little over two weeks.

I also agree with your assessments on:

1. "the word "fair" is not the first one I'd apply to Hinderer pricing. It would be more along the lines of "seriously?". And then I'd go out and buy a Sebenza 21."

2. "Sounds fragile to me. William Henry knives have a reputation as being pocket jewlery . . . until you use them to cut stuff. Then you find out what their real merits are. (Keep in mind that while everybody's going ga-ga over the latest implementation of ZDP-189 in a Kershaw knife, Matt Conable has been using that blade steel on William Henry knives for years. And his blades are laminated to increase strength as well. They are, first and foremost, superb cutting instruments.)"

Within the constrain of similar price range. I also like William Henry. I have one Gentac B30. But.....ruggedness....fun factors w/ambidextrous double thumb lugs ....for my money....Sebenza 21 Insingo....
Do you mean CRK here rather than RHK because I think you do, and it changes the context of your statement completely. Same goes for your post before. Just trying to save the OP a little confusion.

You are correct. Typo.

Thanks!

I took a look at Chaves Knives. I like the look of them. The 228 is pretty cool, and I also like the look of the "Liberation" prototype. Thanks again to every one who has made suggestions.

If anyone here has a Chaves; how smooth do you think it is? What do you think about it from a F/F standpoint?

I got my 228 today and the fit and finish is top notch. Super smooth deployment and closing since it is on bearings. I also have 2 redencions and if i wasnt told that the 228 was a mid tech id think it was a full custom knife. Really well built and an awesome design, the skull pocket clip is just the coolest and im not even a big skull kind of guy. I bet you could contact ramon and still get on the list for one right now or im sure they will be in the exchange soon.

Have you considered Direware? I swear to ya, I think I could chop my Hinderer or Strider up with my Direware hyper-90...every time I handle it, I'm just amazed at the quality and how powerful it feels in the hand!

Don't any of you Herd members get me wrong, I love my Hinderers and they are top quality. Once you hold a Direware you'll understand.

The ProTech TR3 Integrity manual is a real nice manual folding knife that is worth a look.

I agree with azhawk0516. I have Sebenzas, Benchmades, Emersons, etc... I love my Protech TR3 for its' simplicity, solid construction, and smooth elegant lines. Even better at its' slightly lower price-point that some others mentioned. Highly recommended.
