What are some huge deal breakers for you when it comes to buying knives?

No tip up option on a folder.
G10 handles/scales.
Stainless fixed blades (I can live with it on a folder but I'd rather it be carbon).
Kydex sheaths.
 
Pocket clips that are too far down on the handle.i dont like the knife to stick 1/3rd the way out. black blades. its easier to polish out a scratch on a satin blade, on black, its there for ever...
 
1. Serrations.
2. Serrations.
3. Saw backs.
4. Swedge backs.
5. Weird blade shapes for no reason.
6. Cost. A few hundred-ok. A few thousand-no.
7. Biggest of all - Un-availabilty. I find a knife I want, then find I cann't get it. Either extreme waiting period, extreme cost, or just not available.

I have not included "bad design" because that should be obvious.
 
1) Combo edges
2) Crappy steel/Giant thumb holes in the blade (tie)
3) Wood handles
4) Paracord handles
5) Tanto
6) Pocket clips
7) Holes drilled in solid Titanium handle slabs (blasphemy)
8) Anything that isn't a full flat grind
9) Fixed blades that are not full tang construction

"crappy" steels still can cut through tape, boxes, leather, and flesh just as effective as s30v/154cm/d2 etc...lots of knives continue to be made, bought and widely used with "crappy" steels..."crappy" steels definitely have no bling factor, but they sure do work hard for the majority of the world's population...

There isn't going to be a show, he is simply uneducated. Like people that think their Prius is a faster car then a Z28 Camero. :rolleyes: :D

I am uneducated because my personal preference for the things I spend MY hard earned money on, aren't in line with yours. I think you sir or the uneducated one. I wasn't bashing as the OP asked what are some deal breakers for "you". In this case that means me. Learn how to read and comprehend.

That "rolleyes" smiliey is code for "sarcastic" :eek: :o It's an opinion thread, everyone has one and not everyone will agree. I was really trying to defuse a potential "round hole'ers" vs "everyone else" bash.
