Off Topic What are the biggest non knife related shop upgrades you have made?

Pretty much the same thing, without the foot powered clamp. I even made an insert with one of my rotating carving vises on the end to do woodcarving on 3-D figures.

I've been switching my fluorescent lights over to LED. At the same time I'm rewiring them I've been adding an outlet next to the lights for me to add drop down LED lights over work stations. I've also made 3 air filtration systems out of exhaust fans and I have them plugged into those outlets as well.

I have an overhead heater that I installed on a wifi thermostat so I can pre warm the shop before I go out there.

I've been putting a lot of my workstations on casters - now my grinder can be rolled in front of the barn doors and I can run a fan behind me and work and have it blow everything outside.

And perhaps the best improvement is a little outdoor rug I put in front of the wood stove with a few lawn chairs which is now know by my buddy Charlie as "the cigar lounge".

Lots of lights. Menards has a four foot LED shop light that's 20 G lumen for $50. It's hung right above my NR grinder replaced a 5G light. AMAZING. The other thing is I use a standard shop vac for grinder, disc sander, oscillating sander ( which is AWESOME for finishing handles with incredible dust collection , down draft table I use to hand sand handles, put on a wireless control to turn vacuum on from where ever I'm using it.

I do the same thing with casters. My forge, anvil stand, toolbox, welding table, grinding table and several smaller items are all on casters. Really makes a big difference in a small space.

The other big change I made, like others have mentioned, was good lighting. I use Barrina LED tube lights from Amazon. Super cheap and easy to install either hardwired or plug-in, in various configurations.

I let all the spiders that the previous owner evicted move back in. It's nice to have some company :P

Serious answer; a good table saw. I splurged on a 3hp sawstop, it's so nice for breaking down wood
