What are the chances.....??

That has to be the *most* special Box Elder knife to date!
Love the history behind it! :D
Seems like it was meant to be just for you Desert Hermit!

Actually, you have me to thank for NOT buying it. It was on hold for me....LOL. Dan emailed me and told me about it the day it arrived. While waiting for it, I purchased one from 2Dead (thank you!). I thanked Dan for holding it and contacting me then graciously "released it". I think it's the ONLY Box Elder I beat Lisa to. You can properly rename it "Eric's Elder" :-)

Wow. Another great big Thank You goes out to Eric!! Perhaps that is a good example of "catch and release" hunting.
I am just beginning to realize how very fortunate I am to have this Special knife.

To me it is kind of fun to know that so many of us here together have been a part of the history of this one little Mnandi.
You can bet I will take very good care of it. For all of us!! ;)

Well I can tell you I am very humbled by how this all has come about. I really think I was just very lucky.

The Box Elder Burl really is especially attractive on this Mnandi and my photos do not do it justice. It has a beautiful variety of grain pattern, some "character" in the wood, and a warm golden color much like aged Ivory.
I couldn't be happier with it, and I couldn't be more appreciative of those who have, for whatever reasons, allowed it to find a home with me.
Just know that "Our Mnandi" will have the best of care here. :)

Yes, I remember the grain pattern distinctly and I was thinking how rich it looked and I darn near couldn't resist it, but those forces that were in place for you to have it were just too strong......warm golden color does describe it. Enjoy it guilt free and in good health!

lol. Rather neat that 4 of us kind of own shares in one little Mnandi.
How many Mnandis can boast of having share holders?
I guess now we will all have to arrange a get together for a Board of Directors meeting. :D

Roger that!!

I suppose, being as it came from Plaza Cutlery, we should consider holding a BOD meeting at the Plaza Cutlery sponsored knife show next year in Hawaii. :D
Everyone bring their Mnandis for show and tell.

You know what's even more odd. A day before I purchased my Box Elder from 2Dead, I received a photo from Knifecenter of a Box Elder they had in "stock". I asked for a photo because they mostly use stock photos. They were annoyed I asked and told me it had to wait until the end of the day. When I received the photo it was just after I discovered the one of the forum from 2Dead. The photo they provided looked exactly like the one from Plaza (several weeks later). We all know the wood grain is like a fingerprint, and it was too close to be a coincidence. I'm scrambling to find the photo. I sent the photo via email and text to my girlfriend. I'm going to check if she still has it on her phone or computer. As soon as I saw the photo Dan sent me, I thought "what, that's the one from Knifecenter". I mentioned that to Dan and received no response. I'm wondering if the knife was originally at Knifecenter and it ended up at Plaza. Or, Knifecenter is selling other places stock. When and if I find the photo and it matches, the plot will thicken.

That is interesting. Perhaps this Mnandi has more "history" than we all thought.
Looking forward to the results of your investigation. Thanks.

Better yet, we'll take that Mnandi and our "knife show" just down the road a piece and into town and hold our show at "Trapper Jon's Knives" right in Sierra Vista.
"Trapper Jon" Carpenter has been an authorized Chris Reeve Knives dealer for many years and always tries to have several CRK's in stock.
Besides that "Trapper Jon" is a personal friend and a super great guy.

Oh, but don't look for the "Trapper Jon's Knives" website. :( "Trapper Jon" and myself are the same age and he actually is less computer oriented than I am, (and I am amazingly computer dysfunctional), but if you're ever within 1,000 miles of Southeast Arizona you will be glad you took the time to stop by "Trapper Jon's Knives" in person and meet Jon.
