Same old design manufactured in China or new stuff?

In this thread:

We have SpydeRenches that are coming in from Taiwan. Production is limited though.

The byrdRenches are coming in from China. Higher production capacity, but still lower than we think the market will want.

Basically the same tool. The Spyderco model has a diamond file, the byrd model uses a metal file. AUS8 on the Spyder, 8Cr13MoV on the byrd.

The Taiwan version is a little more $.

What hardness does Spyderco run their AUS 8 at? I'd almost rather have the 8Cr13MoV if it isn't in the 59-60 range, considering how well my Byrds perform.

So if I underestand it, there's going to be two Spyderenches out, a byrd and a spyderco, from china and taiwan respectively? I'd much rather have Taiwan and the conventional spyderhole.
