What are the pros and cons of the different types of sharpening stones?

In my opinion, the only way to know what sharpening tools will work best for "you", your knives, and your particular cutting needs (what type of edge you want), is to try different sharpening tools for yourself and find out what works best for you.

That's how I learned what works best for me.

Just because a particular stone works great for one persons needs doesn't mean it will work great for another.
