As you can see the situation over hear is far from clear
, although the definition of "offensive weapon" is biased in the favour of the policeman on the spot, so for heavens sake be polite
When I was much younger (before things became really tight), I was once told by a Policeman that he had once confiscated a studded wrist band - the reason he gave was that he couldn't think of a legitimate reason why the boy would want it ??????
Remember, you might be in the right, but it might not stop your knife getting confiscated, or risk a night in the cells if you make a big fuss about it
If you want a self defence alternative, might I suggest about 2' of light chain with a dog clip on one end to clip to your belt and a large bunch of keys that sit in your pocket on the other end. For added effect you might add a small brass padlock to the keyring. Very common and hard to prove you meant violence with it, even in the unlikely event this thought crosses the PC's mind
