What are the strong suits of each of the kamis?

Doh!!!! I didn't think about the kamis using their marks.:o  :p ;)

I would still write their names on the back so as to more easily identify them. It's hard enough for me to remember where I left my head in the mornings and I'm not good with faces and names let alone marks and names.:o

I think most can sign their name. Bug me and we'll get the project started after the first of the year.

Glad to have come up with a decent idea :). Think it seems like a quick+easy way for the kamis to earn a few more well-deserved rupees!
And maybe also to realise and take pride in their 'celebrity' status.

Received my Durba-made BAS + kagas katne yesterday :D . Very fast delivery: ordered on Friday and received on Monday (and I live on the other coast, away from a main post-office, so things typically take an extra day or so).

Have spent a great deal of time just marvelling over the craftsmanship of the piece. Even after spending a good deal of time on this forum and looking (many times) through all of the photos in the Himalayan Imports site, I was still astonished at the beauty of the khukuri upon opening it. To remark just on one point, the intricate detail of the sword of Shiva is beyond anything I expected. Uncle, the photos on the Himalayan Imports site don't come close to doing your khukuris justice!!!

It's utterly astounding - the same sort of feeling as....maybe a Rodin sculpture, I don't know. Except that I can hold it in my hand! And speaking of that, it's like Durba custom made it for me! It fits perfectly into my hand - if my hand were bigger, it'd be too small.

Going to go and test out the BAS today-tomorrow (as soon as I recover from the sheer visual impact of the workmanship) on some wood that needs chopping anyway. But was also impressed just with the utility of the kagas katne! - for US$10 I expected essentially just a high-class letter-opener, but, as tiny as it is, it sliced through an apple like it were butter! Vaah! ;) Can't wait to see what the BAS is like.

Uncle Bill, I can't believe anyone is making any money from Himalayan Imports....but please keep on doing whatever it is you're doing.

And please give my thanks to Durba for his fabuluous work of art.

Best, Ben.

And then there's the religious festivals at B.G.! Not to mention family and personal biographies/photoessays on each kami! ARGGGHHHH the pain of unfulfilled dreams;) :D

Yes indeed Uncle ! You need to send the two Hawaii boys to Nepal to further the cause of the Kamis. We could gather inteligence on all involved and write our own book extolling the virtues of HI :D or better yet we could do a fantastic video of the process from start to finsh. which I'm sure would outdo the G-house video by a mile. Hey maybe John Powell would foot the bill for us ;)
