What are these lines?

So the 1280 came in. I’m really liking it. Here it is next to the bk4 i scored off of the exchange last week.

And the new for 2019 bk44 kukri neck knife!
(Its a joke, grea little knife but its just a modded 11)

Did some quick tests with it and i like the bigger sweet spot. Its a little thinner so it doesnt split wood ( chopping like with ane axe) quite as well and i honestly don’t do that very much. And if i did i have an ontario sp53 (among others) that blows both away in that department. The 1280 is noticeably better at cutting green vegetation, not by much but it is noticeable. I think i remember seeing an interview with Ethan saying that if he were to design the bk4 today, knowing what he knows now, he would have made it with a bigger sweet spot (lozenge he calls it.)
For big knives they both are awesome at finer stuff.
Anyone who can’t find a 4 i can definitely suggest the 1280. Makes me want to try the kabar kukri machete!
ETA: i won’t be selling my 4 off, at least not right now

1280 has a nice nice ring to it. :D
Glad Ka-bar took care of you and I’m especially glad you were able to secure another Machax!
It’s always been one of my favorite woods tools. So versitile!

It's too late now, but I would have suggested you take some sandpaper to one of the lines and see if it disappeared with some sanding.

No not all stains. On my knife you can see it’s layers. On my knife really does resemble Damascus.

Ethan. Is there anyway you can get that knife from the factory? It needs a torture test. I doubt it would fail.

I think this is why they like to coat blades. To hide flaws that don’t matter.
