I just got my Photopoint Email yesterday.

Good bye Photopoint!

I would rather ask Spark to find us some room on our server for a fee. At least the load time would be faster, and the money would be going to support our forum.

More and more free websites like geocities are disallowing use of their services as a place for images. Meaning you can no longer display images from their site. Images displayed from a geocities website will still work. But if you try to display an image on geocities from a place like bladeforums it will be blocked.

There's a thread in the community forum that has a list of places that still allow this and are still free. Try www.postmypic.com for now. Not as nice as photopoint but still free.

Relax, guys, the company that runs Photopoint simply has to survive. As you probably know, those internet business plans that rely on internet advertising for a revenue stream are failing because the revenue stream is drying up. They want to survive like anybody else. Take care.
 
I have no complaints about their fee. I read all the 'fine print' I could find, and $10 buys you storage for 1000 photos. Strangely, there does not seem to be a size limit, only the number. I like that.

If you have less than 10 photos, they will allow you to have a free account.

The important thing to notice is that these LOW fees will only be in effect until mid-May. Then I assume the rate is going to increase.

A few months ago, everytime I went to Photopoint, I was redirected to the order prints page. I got the message and ordered a few. They came out great, and the fee, including postage, was less than I would have paid at a brick and mortar photo store to have prints made.

Photopoint offers a great service. I have 30MB of pictures there now. Paying less than a dollar a month seems pretty reasonable to me.

Wow Chuck you really know how to make someone feel cheap...

I really don't know what I am going to do, especially with the poorer service that Photopoint has been providing sense they upgraded, it takes a lot longer for photos and there site in general to load. I will have to figure something out. Also its not really the money that bothers me. Its the ethics and the inconvenience of the entire thing. I started my account there for one reason, because it was free (and I assumed that it would stay that way) Now not only are they changing there entire net work, but it is lesser quality service that was provided in the past. Also I don't know if I want to have to mess with one more thing to remember to pay, or send in. Call me what you want -- Just my 2 cents I guess...

Damn...ANOTHER thing to further complicate my life...First it was the fact that since the "upgrade", I now have to type in both my "user-name" and password every-damn-time I want to post here at BF, and now THIS wanting money thing from PhotoPoint...
