What Are You Bringing To Art Of Steel

This is a knife that I made last fall for the first ICCE Show and donated to the ABS with the condition that 100% of the sale price would go toward a youth scholarship for a beginning bladesmithing course. The ABS will be accepting bids on the knife at the show this weekend in Little Rock.

I believe strongly in the mission of the ABS to teach & promote the forged blade and can think of no better way to do this than to introduce a young man or woman to bladesmithing. If you (or a coalition of several of you) would like to be a part of sending a youth(s) to knife making school see either Cindy Sheely or myself at the show this weekend to place a bid.

[Sorry for the poor resolution photos but these are all that I have available at this time.] The blade of this Bowie is a very nice "W" pattern Damascus with a blackwood handle and pewter inlets.

Thanks,
Gary

That is all the pictures of other people's work that I have. I have an....odd knife that I will be posting tomorrow. I'm still iffy on it to say the least.

I am really looking forward to seeing some of these knives in person. Lots of great pieces. And I've made so many friends over the past year so really looking forward to seeing everyone.

I finished another today. Woo-hoo...looks like I'll have four on my table. Sucky pic, I know. Anyone know if Chuck will be set up on Friday for photography?

One last hunter, and now I can figure out how to get there.

This is Curly Black Olive from John Doyle. I wish I had a whole bucket of this stuff!

Held on with Bull's Eye pins:

Lots of beautiful knives here to see.
Tad, that stag with random is awesome!

I have two more that I am going to try to post. I'm not sure if I can get a good shot of my dagger or not. It is more than I am use to shooting. lol

What a line-up....sure hate to miss it.

Have a great show all, I'm sure you will!

Very nice submissions. Looks like I am stuck at work today and cannot attend the cutting competition. I had intended to take pictures and post them. Pretty much a bummer.
But tomorrow will be awesome.

I've got baby duty. So, will be missing the cutting competition as well. On the bright side... That means I can stop at Whatta-Burger in Russelleville for a Bacon Cheeseburger and Chocolate Peanut Butter Milkshake. (Calories don't count on knife trips.)

By unusual events I was able to make it to the cutting competition. Due to the crowd and Plexiglass I was not able get pictures. John Horrigan got first place, Lin Rhea and Ben Seward tied for second.

Can't wait to see all the wonderful knives in the morning.
