Underworld: 1992-2002. Disc #2, to be precise.

"Dirty Epic," "Bigmouth," and "Cowgirl" are worth the price of admission alone, never mind the other stuff. You have probably heard "Born Slippy" already. "Pearl's Girl" is one of my favorite songs, in any genre, by any band -- bar none.

They have a habit of writing four or five songs, then eventually condensing them into one -- a very different approach to music as compared with most of today's artists, who seem to use the same tired old beat (or a small variation of it) throughout entire albums. The result is a sound that's complex to the point of being written off as tweaker music in some circles. I personally disagree with this point of view but it takes all kinds.

The lyrics are, for the most part, nonsense, which (according to the author) is precisely the idea. Instead of focusing on what's being said, the listener is expected to simply absorb the words and sounds as one complete package and allow the subconscious to make what it will of it all.

I often listen to this on the way home from work to put myself in the right state of mind. I typically listen to Rob Zombie or Slipknot on the way in to work...again, to put myself in the right state of mind.

"Dr. Who" on the SciFi channel...

It's *not* Dune.

Peer into the visorscope
And see what your future will be
Yes it's true, a ray of hope
Probability that you will be with me!
Chemicals you are wearing have a sensual aroma
And above my boudoir is a magnificent diploma
You could give it up... or research on your own
If you don't go down with me
then I'll just have to freak your clone

from "Why do we do it"

I'm listening to primal scream at the moment...kind of a techno ambience thing, for the most part, but occasionally they seem to do a classic rock esque song.

Listening to "The Crazy World of Arthur Brown"

And studying....

INRI

Igni Natura Renovatur Integra

(all Nature is Renewed by Fire) Technically the Astral body is also called the "Fire Body." Interesting, no?

What a coincidence. Me too, but I'm also hearing my Musical Ear Syndrome 60's cheap rock organ playing a vagely famuliar ballad.

Ihave no hope for most of you ! L:O:L

I have run the gamut of musical bombardment . I have been one of those you wouldn,t want for a neighbour with Grand Funk Railroad pounding out " Inside looking Out " more often than was liked .

Irish Whistle music ( Spailpins Lament " ) Just about any transverse flute music . I still like the occasional "Jethro Tull " tune . I am trying more to become part of the music than having the music overcome part of me .

"Speak for yourself". That and the Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex Soundtrack have been getting a lot of play at my desk.
