This evening I took out an old CD, Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, Cut in West Germany '87.

Tchaikovsky - Capriccio Italien & 1812 Festival Overture.

Beautiful and emotive. Before the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Right now while I read this. . . good film, AWESOME music -

Happy New Year everyone! Hope things get waaaaaay better!

Driving to work Christmas day (at 6AM..) I had the local community radio station on; the only refuge from non-stop Christmas carols.
The guy played a particularly nice blues tune filled with tasty slide guitar licks. Being a slide-kind-of-guy, I called the DJ up and asked who it was...

Johnny Winter! After hearing "Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo" about a million times on rock radio I sort of crossed Winter off, forgetting his rep as a great blues picker.

Found a nice tab of the song, (Dallas) and I'm presently learning it.

ELO-- GREATEST HITS

Contains about 10 of the greatest pop songs ever assembled by one band. Their music was so unique and creative, yet totally catchy.

+1 on that, love that CD. I've also got Slobberbone and Drive By Truckers in rotation today.
