What are you looking forward to this year?

Finally got the 2010 catalog, looking forward to browsing through that. I've heard that it is not much changed from the previous Spyderco offerings, but since this is the first one I've received, I don't have anything to compare it to.

BTW, I don't think the letter sorting machines at USPS like the catalog much. Mine was chewed up a bit on arrival on the corners probably because of the size and shape of the catalog.

To be honest, I'm making a LOT less $$$ this year than last, and my discretionary knife budget will allow for maybe one $100 purchase.

Spyderco will have to top the Sage I, a difficult task in my opinion, to pry those dollars out of my grubby little hands!:)

well heres what I'd like to see, dunno if I'll see em all though..

FFG FRN Endura
FFG Golden made Native 4
Resilience
FRN Dfly 2

I'm looking forward to the Para2, the rumored FRN Dragonfly with ambi clip, FFG Endura and FFG Delica.

I just can't get to amped about the new FRN SlipIts. The colors, lines, and prices look good, but I've never handled a Spyderco slipjoint and imagine the half-stop to be jarring and unpleasant.

I dont see any confirmations, again, just hypothetical, I am fully aware of whats posted on the Spydie boards since I *am* a fanatic that being said its a tough year economically and the models that are "spoken" of are just maybes- 1 post from Janich doesn't make it so.

Using your genius paraphrasing of the past posts of models that may or may not ever see the light of day; I am looking forward to the folding hawk, Pterodactyl and Bi-fold this year.

Input from both Sal and Mr. Janich is not confirmation? I'm not arguing that they are going to be catalog items with a release date, I'm saying they're at least being worked on in some sense. You stated the following:

As far as I know- There is no concrete development or planning on any future Dodo's or Yojimbo's, anything else at this stage is pure conjecture.

I responded with two posts that show there is in fact, at the very least planning and development for the Yo2 and planning for the Dodo. What's the problem?

You have a post (one of many) from Mr. Janich that he is working on a Yo2 design. He sat down with Eric Glesser to discuss this. How is this not planning/development? Next, we have a post from Sal that is somewhat tongue in cheek that states Eric is on some resurrection of the Dodo. If he's not planning or developing a new Dodo, what is he doing? From the past? The Dodo post was from two months ago, the Yo2 post from 3 days ago.

Now, these two models may not ever reach production but I and others can still look forward to news of them until we get a definite answer either way.

Yah, I hear you on that & its an awesome thought to have but the point of the thread was what we are looking forwards to this year ;)

The point I am trying to make is; Prototype /= Production- When I see a pilot of the Yojimbo 2 I will be crazy happy but until then it is and will remain a prototype/maybe like the plethora of Spyderco's that have been developed but dont make the cut based on economic or other factors.

My original dig was based on another member saying he looked forward to the Yojimbo and Dodo this year, I (knowing the state of current protos/pilots etc,) was of course bemused and corrected him until you jumped in with some sort of argument that I am against being happy over potential news?!

Anyway no hard feelings and I hope you see where I am coming from.

Manix 2 variations, FFG FRN Delica and Endura, and Para 2 (if it comes out this year.) Edit: And the wireclip FRN Dragonfly!

Although skeptical at first, the wire clip has won me over. It's another incremental step in the creation of the perfect EDC.

The Spyderhole took some getting used to, I wasn't convinced it would work as well as a thumbstud, but in practice it was MORE functional.

The wire clip-honestly I thought it was cheap-looking, but the knife is nearly imperceptible when clipped in the front pocket.

To me, that's what makes Spydie's different. It may take some getting used to at first, but once you use one, you realize everything is designed for function first.

I can tell you I've never found the half stop never to be an issue, but the only way you'll ever know for sure is to try one. If it turns out you don't like the knife you could always resell it.

The one knife I'm looking at more than any other in 2010 so far is the FRN UKPK drop point in blue. Should be a real standout in terms of bang for your buck.

Really curious what the Para2 will be like, and definitely going to pick up a FRN UKPK.

Military 2. And I want a Stretch FRN! A Paramilitary 2 with four way clip and titanium compression lock would also be excellent.

Para Millie 2 (I want to buy a Para Millie 1, but holding out to see what the 2 does).

And definately an FRN UKPK. Going to be living in the UK for three years, so having an inexpensive folder I can carry when off duty that is still damn nice is huge. The price on the G-10 UKPK has been keeping me away from it for a while, so this one was especially up my alley.

Also the larger version Tenacious remake, if its actually coming out this year, love my Tenacious, and expect to love the Persistence that is in the mail on its way too.
