What are you taking hunting?

I dunno.....I recognized a few names that I have used......CS Master Hunter, Schrade Sharpfinger, Buck folder with kraton handle, regular SAK....all have done a yeoman job in years past. Come to think of it, I haven't tagged a deer since registering here. Hmmmmmm....maybe I should spend more time in the woods and less on line??
Good luck,
Jim

well, if I was going hunting this year, I would carry the following items. My birthday present a drop point by Ken Davis, an old remington fixed blade, my gerber hone, and my old Parker Hale 30-06. I miss hunting emensely, I live in CA and between all the gun laws, yuppies, and the fact is I find the idea a big joke and Laugh when I think of hunting the deer (BLACKTAIL)they are no bigger than a great dane, and I grew up hunting 250lbs or better Muleys. The hunting in CA sucks except for wild hog hunting but only if you have property or know friends who do. It is not hunting to me to pay someone money to take me out do everything for me might as well go ahead and the pull of the trigger for me too. But if I was living back home in Oregon, I hunt for bear elk and deer boy do I miss it.

For hunting, I carry my big Bowie knife. It's 21 inches long overall, swell center coffin handle grip, and Sheffield style blade with sharpened clip. This size is about the best compromise for quickness and momentum, while still being short enough to swing in the cramped quarters I hunt. In the last week, I've gotten 4 raccoons and a possum with it.

Oh, wait. You weren't talking about a *skinning* knife, were you?;)

Well, if I get to go this year, I'll have my Savage/Leupold '06 along with my Dozier Slim Outdoorsman or my Marbles Woodcraft that I won at the other forum.
Saw my first bear last year.
How something that big could move that quietly was amazing.
Oh yeah, the Recon Scout too ;)
