What are you using to sharpen your JK knives?

Wicked edge for me. I'm still learning but it's made some rather sharp edges!!! It's been a great way to learn about different steels. For instance, I've learned I really like 440C.

The Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker. I had the Wicked Edge and though it was an excellent system that produced perfect results (with most knives) it required a dedicated space or some dedicated time to have a sharpening session. To me - it didn't lend itself to tuning an edge of one blade - better to set up and do a 1/2 dozen knives at a time.

The Sharpmaker on the other hand takes up little space on the bench (or kitchen counter) and allows for wicked easy and fast touch up of user knives. Even when needing to reprofile or repair an edge the Sharpmaker can handle most tasks if you add a set of diamond rods. I highly recommend the Sharpmaker.

The Edge Pro is similar in its own right.
Yes, it requires a dedicated space and some dedicated time to use, but that time doesn't take any more than 10 minutes when your system stays set-up and ready to go.
For me, luckily, I have my own room to sharpen knives, clean guns, and basically do 'man stuff', so the dedicated space isn't an issue.
I can take any knife, sit down, and immediately start sharpening.
I wish I would have dropped the coin on the Edge Pro 5 years ago.

I have a full woodworking shop and so presumably plenty of "man stuff" space, but bench space is still at a premium. Wicked Edge always needed to be taken down. SharpMaker always ready to go. Still, it was nice every once in a while to set up the WE on the picnic table with a cold brew and some favorite knives and make some edge magic - oh well...

I have the same issue using my water stones to sharpen my edge tools. You can always use more shop space right?

I have two differnt lansky systems, one for more serious sharpening one for touch up and on the go

Those tun boxes are so handy to have around. They're cheap enough that I should get a second one to keep in the car, so I'll have one close when I'm out and about.

I've been using this one since I started this thread, a Lansky Master's Edge. I like it. It has the same angles as the little turn box(20 and 25), with the addition of a 17* angle. There's also a triangle shaped rod for I don't know what. Pretty neat little set up, and easy to use. I have two bald spots on my thighs after touching up my JK Personal Camp knife, so I guess it works well enough.

I think the triangle rods are for serrations - at least that is why the Spyderco rods are shaped that way - work good too -

best
