What are you watching & why? (splain)

I nominate #TomHanks for POTUS based on his performance in the Apple/Sony movie -- "Greyhound" (2020) -- that I just watched in which he plays the commander of a destroyer group tasked to protect a convey of supply ships across the Atlantic from a Nazi U2 submarine "wolfpack" during #WWII.

The screenplay was written (at least in part) by Tom Hanks himself.

It is a very taut & exciting film. If you liked "Run Silent, Run Deep" (1958) starring Clark Gable & Burt Lancaster, you should like this film too, which is a take from the opposite perspective.

Since it's an Apple TV production, you need an Apple account or be willing to use an alternative streaming site to watch it as I just did. I also just discovered that this movie is available on DVD, probably due to Sony's involvement, which I plan to buy.

^ another disappointment in this anthology.

I'll splain my take without giving away the ending. All this supposed infused "woke" stuff doesn't bother me as it doesn't get under my skin as it does wit some, although I don't deny the existence of the nouveau sensitivities on both sides. All that said, the first season was so exceptional that nothing will come close and by trying to mimic the occult alongside logic and science of the first season in other seasons has just been so underwhelming.

Thanks, guys. 🤣

We're giving it a try. I went into it with some misgivings about how much I would like it. The Better Half really wanted to watch it, and I make her watch lots of stuff that she's not totally in to, so I gotta do the same now and then.

That, I completely agree with. S1 was excellent and I didn't bother finishing S2 or S3 even though I wanted to like them.

I heard the bad guy turned out to be……

White men!!

I'm thinking about watching Dina Merrill in "Bonfire", S1.E13 of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour.

I understand that I am to splain...

Well... I've found that my viewing her visage causes the left ventral tegmental area of my brain to become active and pump out dopamine.

I'm trying to avoid spoilers, but I skimmed over the Night Country posts and it doesn't sound like it is good? I know it wasn't going to top Season 1, but was hoping it would be better than 2 and 3.

I like Jodie Foster and was looking forward to watching Night Country. I'll still watch it when I get around to it and form my own thoughts.

I skipped seasons 2 and 3 on the recommendations of buddies. The first season was just so damn good. Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey are at their finest, really. It will be hard to top.

Funny, I don’t remember anyone being in season one besides Alexandra Daddario.
