What are your alternatives for Sebenza money

Maybe there was a mistake in copy/pasting? This seems to just go to the "for sell" forums.

there was no mistake. you will find lots of cuctom knives for sale there in your price range. Or find someone to make one to your specifications.

The price range you are talking about IMO you will get a much nicer knife from a custom maker than a production knife company

I do like lovingly made customs, I have a few myself. Yet I can't say that any custom I've encountered yet is truly nicer/better made than my Lion Steel SR-1 or the Klötzlis that I recommended previously in this thread. They are as perfectionist as anything I've seen in the custom world.

I've bought a couple of Sebenzas lately, have a Lionsteel SR-1 in blue on the way and got another I really like, large Lahar in blue, frame-lock, 154CPM very sharp and this knife feels strong. Has a very tight fitted frame lock. The handle slabs are one piece despite the bolster look.

The SR-1 looks pretty awesome. If I got the price right, it should be in the $400 range not including shipping(which I guess is another $50). The only question is how it performs when compared to the Sebenza and XM-18.

You can get the SR-1 from Knife Art, (for a while anyway until they are gone)
375 and 10 to ship, mines on the way.

Tempting, but I've already spent about $700($950 if you count the one I bought as a present) on knives this month alone, so I really ought to stop myself before I run out of funds for Christmas presents:thumbdn:.

Besides which, I'm not entirely sure I'm enough of a connoisseur to appreciate the fit and finish over my ZT 0301.

That's how you become more of a connoisseur, by buying higher end knives. Then you will "see" the light, so to say.:D

Well slap me silly because I just ordered a Bronze SR-1. I'll be dead if anyone in the family finds out, but I suppose selling it again would be fairly easy. Time to see if the hype is just hype or if I would really appreciate it over my ZT 0301(of which I have nothing to complain about atm other than it cut me 3 times:rolleyes:).

I have a feeling I'm not going to be selling mine. But, it's always easier for me to buy knives that I can sell easily if I choose to.

I really am proud of my ZT-301. No personal cuts thus far - but I did open it Monday night - during House - a bit too close to my walnut coffee table - oops! It added character, by removing an eighth of an inch chip. My 790 Subrosa got my belly - twice. Ruined two shirts, but only scratched me. Not fond of AO knives - but those two are super knives.

Quality... I had no idea it got better than BM & ZT - then I got my CRK/Wilson 'StarTac' Umnumzaan - WOW!! They really do raise the bar - and what a warranty, too. It's up there - maybe above my previous quality leader - a BM 630 Skirmish, which is a hard act for any knife to follow.

Oh - the Boker Titan Defender and Titan Light Weight Defender, which is on my short list - are both of Boehler N690 steel, like my Boker Haddock and Pry-Mate. The BM 755 MPR is of M390. BM states that the N690 steel is 'similar' to 440C, both having a sharpness of Rc 58-60 from them, while the M390 is a bit more premium - much like a stainless M4 - Rc 60-62.

Stainz

PS My Boker Haddock was not in the same league as the BM & ZT, quality-wise - not real far off, just not in the same quality level - certainly not so considering it's similar street price. I would hope that the Defenders are better!

Wow, that knife looks really big in that picture.

Also, I've always wondered, what's with that metal "circle" looking thing that's by the frame-lock?
It is a large folder and I also have a feeling Jill has a small hand. The "metal circle thing" acts as a Hinderer type lock. It has the additional feature (when turned) which locks the intregal lock-bar in place. Making it sort of a double lock,( if that makes any sense).
