What are your biggest knife turn-ONs ???

You took the words out of my um, er, fingers. Ray's knives just have the perfect look. I love the Fiddlebacks and the Breedens and will probably buy one of them next but Rays just have that look.:D
I it looks good it will work good my Dad always said. If that is true Ray's knives will work extremely well!

Dude you have no idea. They are flat awesome!!!!!!!

carbon steel..
comfortable/contoured handle scales..
nice quality sheaths..
thumb grooves..

A new one I haven't been able to get hold of so far:D

Decent sheath

Good scales in looks and grip

Something that looks like an extension of your hand

Bone

Canvas Micarta

That's easy to sharpen

O1/A2/1095 steel
micarta scales
Receiving a Quality Sheath w/Knife
Thumb jimping or grippers on spine(works great for sparking fire steel)
Full flat grind
Convex edges
full tang construction hidden or exposed

I could not agree with you more on this one. There's nothing worse then getting a knife you are excited about only to find out that you got a potato sack to put it in.

Great thread topic! I always like looking at the positive more than the negative.

For me...

-A sharp edge with a good grind!!! knives must be good cutters. (scandi or convex for me right now)
-A blade that's not too wide and not too narrow
-Around 1/8" thickness
-A blade that comes all the way down to the handle, or near it.
-3.5"-5' blade, unless it's a chopper of course
-Full, rounded, comfy handles!!!!! I should be able to use it all day without getting sores
-A solid leather pouch sheath, or quality kydex. I'd rather just not receive one and save the money than have a crappy sheath sent with the knife.

Number one most important thing for me:

PARSIMONY! I like clean, uncluttered designs. Fancy and complicated does nothing for me. I like simple and clean, and it has to CUT.

If I find a clean, simple knife that cuts really well, I'm happy. What else is there, anyway?

W2, 1084 or the new Crucible forging steel once it comes out, hidden tang, natural handle material, flat grind, leather sheath, a GUARD, preferably 416!!!!!!!:D

for myself as a user: thin sharp, convex or scandi blades, a bit on the long side (5-6 inches), puukkos, leukus, and seaxen.

And... fighting knives, mostly british and spanish style dirks, but kindjahls and modern long clip subhilt fighters, too.

As a maker- simplicity in form, a lack of sharp edges everywhere except the edge, good carbon steel, wood, and a solid sheath that makes you stand taller for 30 seconds until you comfortably forget that you are wearing it. Oh, and leukus, of course. (though there's this spanish dirk thing....)

Fat comfortable handles.

A single guard of some form at least half of an inch.

Full / exposed tang.

Good sheath for the knives intended purpose -- hunting for hunting / tactical for tactical.

Carbon steel.

Forgot to add: I like a sharp, flat spine too! I use the spine almost as much as the blade I think, from firesteels to fluffing tinder.

Carbon Steel

plain edges

solid stout blades

big massive beefy choppers

CHOILS! I LOVE CHOILS! BAHAHHAHAHAHA to ALL WHO HATE CHOILS - YER MISSING OUT!

well constructed sheaths

Kydex/Concealex

Micarta

flat pommels like the old SOG Desert Dagger

forging marks

spalted wood scales (stabilized)

curly maple!
did i mention choils? i think its hilarious that some get bent out of shape over them.
