the farthest to the left is a khukuri-house "buffalo head" khukuri, i rememmber it being something like 42" and weighing somewhere around 6lbs. next to it is a 30" ang khola by sher that i wish i hadnt sold... i needed the money then though... not an easy item to come by....

At some point, I'd like:

a bhutan;
a 14" BDC;
a munk chunk/BB;
sherpa crow;
R7 Skinner;
katunje.

I wouldn't be at all upset if a tarwar with a guard showed up one day, too...

I just thought of this while sifting through my pile of steel... 16.5 " Chiruwa AK villager. Don't know if I missed one somewhere, but I don't recall seeing one.

Just recieved one of mine. A Samsher, and a beauty. See other thread. And thanks again.

Hi Seth:

About your dream knife #1. 3/4 to 1" thick.

I own a 1/2" thick AK that Uncle Bill reccomended to me. It is absolutly indestructable just like he said. It has served me well, but it is also heavy.

What would you do, or need, with a thicker AK?

Just wondering.

heavier chopping weight while maintaning a workable using length. anything beyond 18" at that weight requires 2 hands, and even 18" is long. im essentially looking for a splitting maul in khukuri form.

i have (2) 1/2" thick 18" ang khola's right now (have to sell one of them soon...). they have their place, but i want the same thing, but much heavier, and much thicker.

The old (read, Shop 1) 20" AKs used to be 5/8" thick and weighed three to four lbs. I'd like to find one of them for sale someday (as well as several models of the older khukuris.

I'd like one with a blade that thick just because of how outrageous it is. I love looking at the thick ass spines on khuks and a 1" spine would look fantastic IMHO.

Maybe a simple backspring like an Okapi. Horn or wood handle. No bolsters. 4" clip point blade, 1/8" thick. A simple, lightweight, honest working knife.

This one, that I designed a few months ago. Yangdu says the Kami's are currently working on it. I actually saw a picture of it on a bulletin board in the background of a pic of a new Kami.

I just found these much too heavy and cumbersome to use. That's why I have not really gone for a 20" CAK as well. Three or four good swings and you tire quickly. I am glad they went to a thinner spine. It also balances the blade better IMO. 20" and about 32 oz. is about max useful knife, although I have many that are heavier and fun to play with, which is reason enough right there to have one. :D
