What are your favorite Ti-framelocks for under $250?

Why all the MPR hate?!? I LOVE mine! It is an extremely stout knife and worth every penny.
Only downside is the clip is hard on your pants.

Spyderco Sage 2
Spyderco Techno
Benchmade MPR
Bradley Alias II

You won't regret any of those. All great knives. Although, being already at $250, I'd save a little more and get a used small Sebenza.

Funny you mention these, they're all ones that have caught my eye recently. I'm really intrigued by the Sage 2 and the Techno; both because of the way they look (especially the Sage 2) and because I know Spyderco blades are well-put together. I used to have a Spyderco Dragonfly and a Ladybug that I used for camping with my dad when I was around 12 years old. Sadly I lost them in the mix of moving a bunch over the years, but I remember even those non-titanium lockbacks were sturdy.

Also, I just saw pics of the Bradley Alias II for the first time online recently, and they look quite a bit like Sebenzas. Any idea how they compare in quality?

ZT0550 can be found for $150 ---- best bang for your buck!!! Get a custom scale from kryptoglow here on BF to make it yours!

I'm definitely going to consider ZT based on all the recommendations to do so. And that's a great idea to contact someone here on the forums to do custom scales for whatever I pick up. I'm brand new to BF so I haven't nearly started utilizing all its resources yet :)

I prefer slim knives, so for me its Sage 2 and Chokwe. For you, liking beefy, I'd say Techno and Southard. Either way, the framelocks coming out of Spyderco's Taichung facility are the best value around in my opinion.

Edit: is that an Andrew Bird reference in your username? Love it.

If all Spyderco frame locks coming out right now are of extremely high quality, I definitely like the Sage 2 most for it's style. And yes that is indeed an Andrew Bird reference. The Mysterious Production of Eggs is my favorite album of all time. I'm quite a fan :)

Yet another ZT recommendation, duly noted. And that Vagnino looks pretty fantastic, and I've never even heard of that company. Actually reminds me of the blade shape for the Angryman AMF-s, totally different handle shape though of course.

My two favorites:

ZT 0551

Ti and G-10 with Elmax, 8.0" OAL

Vagnino P-38

Ti with S35VN, 6.25" OAL
Not a $250 knife to be sure, but you may find one for about $300 if you know howe to look around.

Of what I own, I must say the Sage 2 is pretty hard to beat. The Chokwe is fantastic as well, but the Sage 2 has the wire clip I love and a very useful nature.. But I don't have any ZT knives yet, a 561 (or maybe a 550) is next on my list but I don't have one, so I may be biased.

and +1 for the fiddle and whistler extraordinaire..

I just about guarantee at some point I'll end up with a Sage 2 or a Techno. I just get this feeling I need to handle a Spyderco framelock. I really wish there was some kind of actual brick and mortar shop around where I live that had a real comprehensive knife collection. It's awesome to read and watch reviews and get recommendations, but sometimes you really just wanna hold these knives in your hand to know if you really love them.

And yes, Andrew Bird is the best of the best in the multi-instrumentalist folky genre :)
