What are YOUR folder making problems! Sound off!

Well Darrel, my biggest problem is making myself make them! I got to be in the mood or there is no point in me trying!

Am just getting started but my biggest problems are finding materials (I've got 2 orders coming from the US after trying the local suppliers) and machinery (it took 2 weeks to find a metal cutting bandsaw in a city of 3 million). Then its the usual time (full-time job) and space (living in apartment) niggles. Not enough to stop me though

LOL, I've got the feeling that with folders these are just the tip of the iceberg but onward and upward!!

Milling the locks ! I have to do it with a file. You know what a pain in the ass it is when you get to that file a little and check file a little and check file a little and check.... THREE DAYS LATER, I think its getting close

Then its just the usual difficulties, somethings slightly off here or there. You split a scale or overpeen a pin.
I've just about finished customizing a spyderco delica. I've got to post another thread and get some ideas from some of you guys that make it looks easy, before I can show it to you though. I've got one last problem that didn't show up until I had put it together permanently

Where do you get precision made, heat treated 440C pivots and stop pins? That is, besides making them yourself!

Cut the slot , then put the knife together.
Take a black magic marker and mark where the slot is
Use a razor blade to go through the frame to mark where the lock and the frame meet (line up). Take the blade out and grind the back of it instead of the lock!

Making 2 left hand mosaic bolsters instead of a right and a left. drilling the detent hole in the wrong place. Having it open in my pocket and cutting a hole in my pants and drawing blood.
 
Placement and size and such of the detent ball has been my hardest thing to figure out...

They work in the closed position but just dont "suck" in when they are almost closed!!!!

Help my knives dont suck!

I also have spent days on making a thumb stud. You know the ones with the jewel in it? I have ruined several and cracked precious stones. I have spent enough time on one that I could have made a straight knife.
 
Mine is getting shop time.....LOL...Really, I have a problem remebering the order to do things in.....
