My number one goal is to get as close to a perfect fit on the guard as possible. Then I can silver solder on the back and avoid having to blend in the solder fillet. And because I will be working with some g10 I will need a respirator. I could also use some additional lighting in my work areas. Going to start tooling on my sheaths for a more decorative look as well. Also plan to use some nickel silver spacers and pins.

I want to get my stupid plunge lines to match!

Spot on grind lines; Easily the hardest thing for me a this point.

everything ... being able to make precise tangs on hidden tangs ... better guard fitting ... better everything. this knife busibess is frustrating!

Matt R,
I've got one and I still manage to screw it up... (Sigh) I'll get there one day!

Freaking scratches!!!! Getting all the lines to go the same direction and look good is by far the hardest thing for me right now. I'm starting to wonder if its a property of this steel (cpm154). As while it's edge holding properties are amazing, it's ridiculously easy to scratch against the grain of my established pattern and stand out like a sore thumb.

I'm going to learn to solder my bolsters. I'm not real satisfied with putting JB Weld under my bolsters. If I can't get the solder skills down pat I may try Locktite 325 under my bolsters instead.

i recently got a 10" contact wheel, i have always flat ground up until then. i have the bevels ok, but the plunges need to get smoother. when viewed from the edge, it looks like tiny steps cut into the plunge instead of a smooth swoop. also flatter tapered tangs, and NOT running over where the guard meets the handle material when grinding the tapers.

Make sure you hang the belt over the same amount on each side and I radius the edges of my platen.

that would probably work matt if i didnt gave a crappy old grizzly grinder. the second i try and grind on the side or corner of the platten the belt wanders to the other side ... i wish i would have saved my money to get a TDM grinder ...

I manage to screw up something different on every knife. And some repeat items too. I need to do some serious work on getting crisp grind lines. Seems like I always get a crisp line on one side and washed out on the other.
