Not to be morbid....but, does anyone think about what do to with their knives when they leave this world?

I might try something cool like donate them to some organization, or who knows??????????

I don't have kids now maybe before I die I will and hope they are into knives. if not I won't give them any>>>

unfortunately you can't take them with you. I will have a hard time parting with some of them.:( hopefully it won't be for awhile

WIERD I WAS THINKING BOUT THAT THE OTHER DAY  as for the answer I don't know lol Ill probaly end up giving em away at the funneral lol or put in the coffin

I'm taking mine with me! Really don't know what's on the other side. Just kidding! If I go to the one place, I won't need them and if it's the other place they will probably all melt!
My nephew might like them - hope I've got them all mounted in my wall display cases by then.

My 18 year old son has already informed everyone that dad's guns and knives are his. Now what his mom and sister have to say about that, I don't know. I certainly hope he doesn't get them too soon!

I started a similar thread here a while back. The gist of my response is that I want some buried/cremated with me and the rest will be distributed amongst my family and friends to remember me by (if they actually want to remember me).

I'll probably leave my knives to my two boys. Even though, they're only 7 and 8, they have a growing interest in knives.

The way funeral expenses are skyrocketing, they'll probably all have to be sold in order to pay for my 7 day block party wake and my 6' high tombstone shaped like a Sebenza.

i hope to have son or two that will be knife knuts before i pass away. but if worse comes to worse those babies are coming with me!

Have you ever seen the movie "The Red Violin"? If you haven't I recommend it. It's a great movie for craftsman to see. Maybe it's just me, but whenever I make a knife I contemplate this knife that I made will outlive me and have a story of it's own. I like the fact that I don't know where some of my knives will go and who's life they will impact in what way...

Sadly for me it looks like I'm the last of my family name of this branch. The last male if you will.

However my buddy is/will be raising his two girls right (guns, knives, motorcycles and other scary stuff) so the decent stuff I have will go to them. Hell, maybe EVERYTHING goes to them, guns and all.

Most long before I go . . . I wanna get to see them enjoy them once they get old enough to appreciate them!:D :D

buckstar, I hope you get that sebenza headstone.

I saw the red violin, maybe that is the best method. one day one of our knives will be part of a longer more intense history. great way to look at it.

we are just carriers of these awesome pieces of steel, some of ours might end up in museums at auctions, in wars, in revolutions. the way knives are built now they should last a thousand years no problem.

I love going to museums and looking at ancient knives.

I hope every one lives a long knife using happy life.

Hmmm...I wonder if the gates of hell are equipped with metal detectors? Definitely hell for a knife knut...

quoted from zenghost's earlier thread.

zen, that would be the ultimate insult to a knife knut. as you are going through hearing that beeping sound.

I really, really have never thought of that seeing as I should have about 60 more years left on the odometer.....

My daughter, who is showing a lot of interest in slipjoints, will get her share of the slippies. My son will get the rest. Like Jason said I want to give them to them before I go when they are old enough.

Since I am left handed, I'm not sure what I would do. My son-inlaw is in the Navy and even though he is right handed he said he would love to get all my knive so I giess I would leave them to him. I may be buried with at least one. Interesting because I was discussing this just the other day. I suppose some day some alien will pick up my TNT and marvel at the precision that our "primitive culture" was able to obtain. I have enough knives to last several lifetimes.

Once we are gone our plans are irrelevant. I can only hope that they will be enjoyed by others for many years, just as I have enjoyed them. Perhaps after several generations when most of the collection has finally turned to dust, I'll look up whoever has the last of it and in appreciation pass along whatever good will I can send their way.

Who knows, some of us may have the last pieces of someone's collection right now? Lets' hope they feel as I do.
