What are your production folder pet peeves?

1. bladeplay
2. poor fit and finish for the price (I'm looking at you Emerson and Strider)
3. Marketed as "hard use"
4. tip down only carry
5. Fangirls who make excuses for companies who screw up.

There are others, but these are my major pet peeves.

This^ and much more.

Locks that get stuck open (Auto LAWKS by CRKT)
Serrations that don't work
Assisted opening
Bead blast finish (Wow, I love rust!)
Hardware that strips out
Unfinished edges on liner locks, frame locks, or flippers. Anything that requires force to be applied to should be comfortable to do so.
Blade coatings that rub off when you cut anything harder than Jello.
Pocket clip coatings that rub off easily.
Pocket clips that are too tight to easily draw from or return to the pocket with one hand.
Pocket clips that are so tight that they will destroy your pants in a matter of days.
Pocket clips that are riding on highly abrasive material that will destroy your pants in a matter of hours.
Blade shapes that have too much belly.

The great majority of these "bad things" can be avoided before you buy. But...sticky locks, non-centered blade, blade-play, lock-rock...may sneak up on you AFTER you purchase the knife. And I really hate these things, and will return the knife to the sender as quickly as the P.O. opens again in the morning.
So, if you are SELLING a used folder, it's so important to REVEAL these points BEFORE the sale, or in the post.

*Pocket clips that bend out too easily
*Bad factory edge on a mid to high-end knife
*Obtrusive (and unnecessary) lettering on the blade
*Tiger stripes. It's like someone thought: "Great design, but how can we make it uglier?" Whoever invented that should be shot, or mauled by a tiger.

-Multi-position pocket clips (I hate extra holes in my handles :grumpy:)
-Blades sticking out of handles when they have flippers (CRKT Swindle got this right)
-Not having IKBS :D
-Not having deep carry pocket clip, I hate knife butt sticking out of my pocket
-Unnecessary weight cutting, I don't think handles should flex
-Giant pocket clips
-Not using torx screw construction (Or making up your own stupid screws...microtech)
-Brutally aggressive gimping
-Having writing all over the blade
-Chisel grind on the WRONG SIDE
-Fat tantos
-Blade coatings
-Not having the blade steel on the blade, even when there's a novel written on it anyways (CRKT!!!)
-Not being designed ergonomically to fit my hand perfectly because I'm selfish :)

I've got others, but now I'm just starting to sound whiny :p

I hate when the thumb stud/hole is not easily accessible. ie: too much handle in the way.

And any form of Tanto.

Cons:
1. Blade play in locking mechanisms which can be affected by blade play.
2. Non adjustable pivot (proprietary or rare bits).
3. Non replaceable blade (Mfg does not offer blade replacements). This is particularly annoying for higher end knives.
4. Straight metal handles, very very uncomfortable.
5. Steel that is not HTed properly. Soft S30v for example or Benchmade's initial M4 hardness.
6. Bollocks marketing. Sorry but if your marketing is plain BS I am not buying from you. cough criminal turned knifemaker con artist cough.
7. Lack of R&D, sometimes I get a knife and wonder what the heck the QC staff was thinking.
8. Crooked sharpening lines. I think the best so far has been CRK, but thats about it. Everyone else has done average to mediocre in consistency.

1) Blade play.
2) Knives that ride high or stick up out of pocket. Like Delicas in the tip up position. I love Delicas but have pretty much quit carrying mine because of this.
3) Roughness when opening.

When they come out of the box with a stupid overly thick edge or dull. Now I don't hold a company to putting a stupid sharp edge on a knife because I realize this isn't possible with production blades but imo a knife edge should be made to cut not chop concrete.

1. Knives with unevenly ground blades.
2. American made knives that have awful F&F
3. The knife is dirty from the factory.

My biggest pet peeves are probably:
1. When disassembly voids the warranty.
2. Uncomfortable handles.
3. Fixed blades that comes with sheaths with no out-of-box way to carry(A ball-chain does NOT count.)
4. Sticky locks.

This stuff just grinds my gears:

-Tip down only
-AO flippers
-Zytel
-Massive or funky pocket clips (I mean you Kershaw!)

When they put those pocket clip holes on the side of the handle where the blade is facing to the left. Who cares about those left handed people anyway? lol. :D
