What are your thoughts on the Shepherd Axe and similar

Been thinking about making a Shepherds Axe, wondering your guys' thoughts and input on what you would like to see in the design of one. Thanks in advance.

Practical and simple. A slightly tapered hardwood staff at least waist high with a metal cap at the end, and the head attached like a tomahawk. Head would not have a sharpened beard, just that single edge, so you can grab the head as a makeshift handle. Head would have enough of a beard though that if climbing, it could be used to hook something for support. Unlike a tomahawk, it wouldn't have a european eye, but a very low angle triangular american. Could be used for rough splitting. Oh, and the handle just under the head would be slightly teardropped. Just my pipe dream.
