ok asking the pro's yet again....Im looking for a neat knife something with some assisted opening feature and cool little bells and whistles.. not too small medium to large..Plain edge perfered and price wise under $70 bucks.. used or new condition...

I have never even used or held a Assisted opener and am really new at this so I don't know what all makes & models are out there.. I want it to be a good knife though and not some junk that will wear out within a year AUS-8 is pretty good and as far as I can tell anything harder will be out of my price range..

I am really diggin the SOG Twitch II and Twitch XL but not really into the blade style.. but mechanics and construction style is right up my alley.. and I like the X-ray but a review i read made it look like the pivot area is weak..
and flash 1 & 2 but dont really know the difference in either..

Kershaw is kinda neat and haven't totally ruled them out and Camillus also but Im not too into the zytel scales.. I would perfer aluminum handle.. anyone know of any differnt ones? and out of these what would be the one you perfered over all others.. This knife will probally see more flick time than actual cutting time and from what i have read about the SOG SAT it is very addictive and fun to open and shut lol .. anyway thank's yet again for your time and help

My wife has carried a Kershaw Blackout for about five years now. They do a pretty good job with the 440A and the liner has yet fail. The clip is still nice and tight and the black finish has help up pretty well. All in all, a good value. Her little knife is a Kershaw Chive. Cute but still well made.

I had a SOG Blink. I traded it because it was too small for what I wanted it for not because it was poorly made.

I have been sorely tempted by the Camillus Heat and the SOG FlashII.

Hope that helps.

Frank

I've EDCed two different Kershaw Leeks for over a year. I'm a soldier, so my pocket knives get a pretty harsh workout. I also carried the Leek for a year in the "sand-box."

I have absolutly no complants. It is an outstanding value, and well within your price range.

I had the pleasure to attend Blade this year. One of my objectives was to handle and feel every assited opener I knew about. I handled all the ones listed here, as well as the new BM Apparition. The SOGs are pretty nice. Both the SOG and the Camillus have better steel (AUS8), but I still vote for the design and action of the Leek (440A)

If your looking to step way out of your price range, Kershaw also has a new "Spec Bump" and "Offset." Both with great steal (CMP 154(not 154CM)), stud lock, and speed-safe. Both are <$150.

cool yeah I was fixing to post about the leek .. I am really likeing this one..

Buck Tempest, ATS-34 blade steel, skeletonized aluminum scales, great snap and lock sits in tandem with the actuator nub for one-handed convenience. Tip-up carry. Lanyard attaches nicely to handle end.

I really like the Leek. However, the lock is inconvenient and the blade steel is old school. The handle is slippery and the blade is small. Gave the Leek to my sis and kept the Tempest.

The Centofante/Onion Kershaw with Wharncliff blade is tiny at 5.38 inches. I really like the blade style. But, dislike the steel and tip-down carry.

The best way I know to describe the boron is that it's like a thin ceramic coating in the knife. The coat manufacturer claims it's hard as all hell, like 90+ Rockwell. Whether or not that's true in practical use, I don't know. The color is a very shiny black, looks gray in some lights/angles.

My Leek is the same model posted in your top pics. I think you'll like it a lot.

Anyone have more info on this one?

That one is pretty nice. I love the shapes and lines. The safety up front is cool too, although shouldn't it be on the other side? Oh well, better for lefties like meeeee. :p

Its called a Kershaw Ken Onion./ Centofante Here is a link to them for a really good price.. Island Security
440a SS,
6061 T6 anodixed aluminum handles,
blade 2 1/4 in.
closed 3 1/8th in.
WT. 1.6oz

The Onion/Centrofante is a slick little knife, and little it definitely is. Not much bigger than a Scallion.

For an EDC folder, I'd reccomend something larger myself. I like the Rainbow Leek myself. The finish, besides looking funky, is quite tough. If the rainbow isn't your thing, look at the 1600BG; black handles and blade with gold screws, thumb stud, and clip (not really gold, but a colored Ti finish). Very slick looking. Or any of the other Leek styles. I'd get one of the steel framelock ones over the aluminum handled linerlocks, despite the attractivness.

Beyond that (obligatory over-your-price-range suggestion), I'd reccomend saving up and getting the Camillus Dominator. It's about double your upper limit, but instead of mere 440A or AUS6 blades and steel, aluminum, or plastic handles, you get S30V and titanium. More durable and longer lasting.

I have right now

SOG Twitch I, II and XL
SOG Flash II
Kershaw Blackout
Kershaw Scallion
Kershaw Chive
Benchmade Apparition

I really like my Twitch II, just sent that out for repair. I haven't used the Blackout much, I edc'd the Scallion for a few months, the Chive for a few weeks. My favorite is the Apparition, if you wanna spend a little extra, I would go with that.

Be warned, it is addictive. I'm looking at autos now ;).

The blade-steel is'nt the greatest in the world, but the Rainbow Leek is simply beautiful!

Everyone that has seen mine has been very impressed.
It only recieves great comments.

Good luck,
Allen.

The assisted opening is great, the blade is a good size (4"?), and the non-slip panels in the grip gave me a "why didn't I think of that?" moment when I first saw them.

Price is right also - at about $65.

I also have a Leek, and while a fine knife, I prefer a beefyer blade for EDC.

Regards,

Jeremy

Recieved my Kershaw Leek 1660 today .. oh man what a knife! .. it is a bit slimer than I had though but that is not a problem at all, Infact it makes second knife carry less obivious with its slender size.. I dont even know it is there..
.. very nice and sharp .. best thing is I got my first experience with an assisted opening blade and I am totally hooked!
I have already treated it with the Militec-1 dry weapons lubercant and man it is like ball bearings on glass.. I am fixing to swap the clip for tip up carry and see how that favors ..
Thank you guys for helping me decide again on a nice knife. all of the suggestions were top notch and I hope helpful to anyone reading about the assisted opener type knives..

Nice choice there, jefff. A bit of advice, though. Don't make the sheeples' eyes bug out when you open your magnificent knife!! :D :D

At least try to be discreet....

You mean like this.. ..... ;) too late
Here is a pic of it .. already made a CR lanyard for it and tip up carry on the clip ..
