What Becker do i need for my BUG OUT bag?

For a bob ..gotta go with the 7...since you already have a smaller blade...or you can ditch the smaller..and go with a 2 alone if thats too much weight a 16 will do.

Having most of the Becker lineup, I can say with confidence, my 16 and 24 is what travels with me to work, in my backpack everyday (my backpack would be my bugout bag anyway regardless). Why not something bigger you might ask? Because, I know those two can do the job.

Size is relative though and you might want bigger. Go for it, you won't be wrong whatever you choose.

If weight is a consideration that (pun alert) weighs heavily in your decision making, then the 7 is probably a good bet. Though not my favorite Becker it is, as stated, a great all-arounder. My personal favorite, the 5, has already been suggested but I fear that my opinion is biased given I like the knife so much, it's suitability for your purposes notwithstanding.

If weight we not a strong consideration, then the 9 or the 2, depending on whether or not you have to carry it alot or perhaps need to conceal it might be considered better than the 7 for certain functions.

My suggestions would be #2 ~ #16 ~ or the big ole "9"..* just a lot of weight in the 9 to carry around but yet a great Knife.!

The 9 weighs less than an ounce more than the 2. So, for me, the 9 offers a lot more utility than the 2 for the same weight.

It really comes down to your skill set and comfort zone. I suck with a hatchet or axe in the woods! It is something that I really would like to improve on but as of right now an axe is not of much use to me. I can fell a small to midsized tree with one and eventually break it down into firewood but that's about it.
.

Umm...what else would you like to do with it?? ;')

I live in NYC so the 3 outweighs them all. I call it my "key to the city," because it's going to get me in pretty much wherever I damn please.

And my 77s... no one touches my 77s...

I keep my BK7 on my BOB when not using it, along with a BK14 with the zytel handles to have a small backup knife.

This thread needs some pitchers!

My 7 is not the knife it used to be....and my 12 is the one that is attached to me regular pack, but that's for day hikes and such.....My 11 and 14 are almost always with me, so they'd be the ones if the fecal matter came in contact with the rotating air circulator blades. I'd rather have the 9 or the 4 or (my version of) the 7, tho....

The 12 is a great all-round, do all knife, and it would be my first choice, I guess. Problem is I have too many, and I'd want to take them all. If I had to bug out, I'd prolly go home and grab the big bag full of steel first. And toilet paper. And some beer, just in case.

Other problem is, I work in MA a lot, and you can't carry anything over the size of a thumbnail there, and it can't have a cutting edge as they have deemed that to be too dangerous.

Anyway, it'd definitely be one of these:

I've known people who use their tomahawk to: process game - including fish, carve spoons and forks, make traps, start a fire and carve s bowl. Pretty much everything that you can do with a knife. If you live with a tomahawk as your only edged tool for long enough you will find a way to make it do everything that you need it to.

Some swear by the Machax (DOC CANADA- he somehow probably heard that),
If you can get yourself to a good outdoors store that sell them, try holding a few different ones to see what they're like and how they feel.

As a matter of fact, I did. :D

I have owned the 7 (and moved it along) and I currently own the 2, 3, 2 Kabar 4's, Cincinatti 4, 9, 12 and 14. Without a doubt, in a SHTF situation it would be my Cinci 4, first, last and always. If I didn't have one, I would do what I had to do to acquire one. This, of course, is my personal opinion (based on 25+ years of using the Cinci 4)

If you're not of the same mind, then I would agree with BeeKayNutCase's advice above regarding "get yourself to a good outdoors store that sell them, try holding a few different ones to see what they're like and how they feel".
