what beer do you drink while rubbin one out

Well lately my beer of choice for most any activity is Yuengling's Amber Lager but I'll drink most any amber or dark beer. (After much experimentation I have discovered that if you take the bottles out of the refrgerator and place them, along with a big glass mug, in the freezer for 14 minutes you end up with a perfectly frosty mug and a beer that is just a few degrees away from becoming slush. I don't like ice to form in my beer so don't leave them in any longer or you'll get foamy beer slushies! My wife however likes beer slushies! :D )

a good beer slushy now and then is good like in mid summer
some of the stuff i have been drinking as of late i dont think would ever freeze

I need at least two hands to rub one out, so I don't occupy myself drinking while I perform that duty. Four hands is better and can cover a lot more area/girth/length, but I always have trouble getting my girlfriend and my wife in the same room to assist. ;) Maybe I should invest in one of those helmets with the beer holders and straws!

Man, I thought this thread was going to be headed to W&C or Pirate's Cove!!! LMAO!!!

I don't drink at all. But my dad is going to Blade with me to see me get my Js stamp, and I've never ever sat down and had a beer with him... that may be a good time for it. We'll see :)

In the words of Arnold, perhaps the best bodybuilder of all time:
"Milk is for babies. When you grow up you drink beer."

back in my drinking days I bough beer by the % content. Not tast ;)
Thats why I drank mostly 13% wine..............but now its no more ;)
4 years this passed January I think..... It may be 3 but whos counting.

Drink one for me guys ;)

Don't drink while hand-rubbing. I try to stay away from the booze in the shop -- I have a hard enough time putting out a semi-decent blade as it is. :D

Good luck (not that you'll need it) on the JS stamp.

LOL, I hadn't even thought about Burch's point. I get my blades to sharp before they're completely finished, and use the hand-sanding as part of the sharpening/edge refining process. I'm always worried about slicing my damn fingers up... that could get ugly if assisted by beer! :D

Might take you up on that Jamie :)

Thanks fellas!

I gave up the stuff along time ago. I do like a beer occasionally with a good steak. Alcohol and power equipment don't mix. It's coffee for me now. Gotta have my cup of joe while making knives. :)

Since I have been self-employed the past couple months, I find that there is a growing separation between the shop and the home. At home I drink beer, but I don't in the shop.

But if I did: Budweiser

I can't rub anything out, or in, with a beer in hand. But, there is nothing and I do mean nothing that, taste as good as the Sparrow Hawk porter I make with my brewing buddy, Dave. Some times in August, when the temperature is averaging about 125 inside the forge buiilding, the sweat running, eyes burning, feeling like a stroke may be right around the corner; the thought of that ice cold beer thats sitting in the fridge waiting for me is a calming vission. Bottoms up!

When I have more people at the shop some beer cans at the end of the job are a good idea.
Other than that, a tiny glass of pinga (our local drink, distilled from sugar cane) always keeps me company. But just a little, more than that and I don´t feel safe.

Ivan , I understand the pinga can get to you pretty quick, and you will be dancing in the streets in no time. Is it anything like sake or ouzo?

Hello, Fred

Yes, pinga is a distilled drink much like sake or ouzo. Its acohol content varies a lot but just one little glass usually is not enough to cause much damage, even if you are drinking a strong one.
I am not much into distilled stuff having beer as my favorite drink but I have started to drink more pinga lately. There is a distillery about two miles from home and I get there once or twice a week for a relaxing afternoon or Sunday morning.
