What blade design really scratches your itches?

I'm not a fan of Tantos,, Whamcliffes, or serrations...
But I've been known to make exceptions...

Depends on what I'm doing. No one blade design/profile is ideal for all tasks.
A true (straight edge) Sheepsfoot/Ramsfoot/Lambsfoot and Wharncliffe would be my LAST choice for field dressing and peeling a critter or fish, for example, but they excell at other tasks, such as detail cuts when whittling, or when grafting, or cutting leather of vinyl sheets.
That's one reason I prefer a multi blade knife, like a stockman (clip point, Sheepsfoot or Wharncliffe, and a Spey/Budding blades) and a moose pattern (Clip point and (usually) large Spey/Budding blades, or two blade slipjoint folding hunter, with a clip point and drop point blades.
Of course I'm not below carrying more than one, so I have more blade choices for whatever task comes up. 😷

I really like lamb, sheep and rams foot style blades for their utility.

I dont know what the PS2 blade shape is actually classified as, but it operates much like a sheeps foot blade in practice.

Tanto, tanto aaaand - tanto for me please !  I love tantos of any shape and form. I used those for years, I don't have to convince myself if they worth or not,
they can be very useful tools or self defense weapons. For that matter, I'll take any Kiridashi or Wharnie, very useful profiles IMO.
In reality I enjoy any type of blades, Bowies and some clip points are very pretty, love the Loveles and Randal's lines, also most of the Japanese makers, they have specific styles,
but my love goes to tantos, not sure if I mention it...

How can you not like this little tanto?
When it grows up: it might be worth something...

As for me? I dig drop-point and clip-point designs...
Blade coatings aren't a make or break factor: but I think I prefer them to be non-coated.
I also gravitate toward wider and thicker blades; and will always take a look at the good hollow grind...
What do he rest of you like?
I scratch my itches with the spine of a blade that is squared and sharp. 😉 A small brass bristle brush works as well.

Guilty as charged... 🙃

I do know how it goes though ....

I like clip points:

And Seaxes, Wharncliffes, whatever you want to call them ....

I have a soft spot for Hinderers.

Too many Spydercos to mention ....

And then there are all the "exceptions" .... Much easier to say what I don't like: thumbstuds, for instance, coated blades, etc.

Lately I have preferred anything spear point or drop point with a swedge. I alternate between a Cold Steel Ti-Lite and a Spyderco Police and always carry a Buck Bantam that my girlfriend’s parents gave me for Christmas as my EDC. For about 3 years that was the only knife I carried.

I enjoy a nice clip point as well but the straight blade with a bayonet grind is probably my favorite on a tactical folder. For a traditional knife I prefer a spear point, with or without a swedge.

I alternate between coated blades or polished but if I had to choose, a high mirror polished blade would be my preference.

I like serrated blades, I am a Spyderco guy but I also enjoy partially serrated knives if the serrations are shallow or scalloped.
