What blade profile do you prefer for your TRADITIONAL KNIFE main blade and why?

I find that I use a wharncliffe and a pen blade the most. I've taken to carrying a swayback or congress pattern because they hide the wharncliffe best when using the other blade. I also carry a separate drop point for food, but that knife doesn't get used as much.

I like a number of pocketknife patterns but prefer to stay close to a 3-1/2" OAL length; the main blades in the ones I own vary from Clip (most) to Spear to Sheepfoot (least). I do prefer a Sheepfoot blade for use - that design has always been the most useful for me, however it doesn't have to be the main blade in the knife. I carry a Stockman most of the time, all of mine have Clip blades for the main but all have a decent size Sheepfoot. OH

I prefer a wharncliffe blade. It's pointy enough for puncturing stuff & has a nice flat edge that's easy to maintain with a small stone.

Lately I am finding a wharncliffe blade does everything I need in an edc. Fruit would really be the only food use I have during a normal day and the wharnie does great at that. If food prep was something I did on a daily bases outside my home then I would consider a clip or drop point to be the best choice for me. It is rare that I need belly during the day but it does happen. I really think that two blades is the best set up and traditional knives give you plenty of options. Combining a straight blade with a second blade that has belly is about as perfect as it gets for me. I personally dont like pen blades and dont think they are a good match to combo with a wharncliffe for my needs. My dream knife has a wharncliffe main with a taller/shorter drop point blade to give me a lot of belly in a small package for the rare occasion I need it. If I went out camping for the weekend I would want the opposite though, main blade to be a clip or drop point and the secondary to be a smaller straight blade.
