Something you don’t find in a budget knife, BG 42. Back in the day when SOG meant something, they made some killer knives.
The AutoClip was a take off on the molded pocket clip. SOG made the tension adjustable, giving the wearer the ability to literally lock the pocket clip with just a roll of the thumb wheel.
It had a crazy for the day, compound grind. Hollow and flat grinds with a single chisel grind on the mark side.
They offered the knife in BG 42 for a very short time. It was too costly to produce and the end users weren’t yet equipped to maintain such a hard steel. IIRC they still make them in China.

What a far cry the current incarnation in “420 Stainless “ at a 49-53 Rockwell compared to the 59-62 Rockwell of the BG42.
