What books are your reading?

If ya like math read Infinity and the Mind by Rudy Rucker:

SynopsisThe book contains popular expositions (accessible to readers with no more than a high school mathematics background) on the mathematical theory of infinity, and a number of related topics. These include Gödel's incompleteness theorems and their relationship to concepts of artificial intelligence and the human mind, as well as the conceivability of some unconventional cosmological models. The material is approached from a variety of viewpoints, some more conventionally mathematical and others being nearly mystical. There is a brief account of the author's personal contact with Kurt Gödel.

An appendix contains one of the few popular expositions on set theory research on what are known as "strong axioms of infinity."

I'll have to check that one out. Thanks for the recommendation. I think I like the ideas and theories more than the actual math part. :)

I'm the slowest reader, so I don't read nearly as much as I'd like... but next on my list is True Grit. I have it sitting right here on my desk waiting for me. After that Les Stroud's book Survive! (which has been sitting on my desk for over a year) :)

I'm currently reading the storehouse principle by Al Jandl and Van Crouch which is helping me get my finances in order

I'm starting Point of Impact today. It's the only Swagger novel that I have left to read. :( I wish Hunter would write a couple each year!

Jeff

Your really gonna enjoy this one. I couldn't put "Point of Impact" down. I think "Bob Lee Swagger" is one of the best fictional characters ever created. It makes a big difference that Stephen Hunter is a firearms enthusiast...cause all the info in the novels, whether it's reloading info or ballistics info, he's always right on target (pun intended...:D)

The Heroes by Joe Abercrombie (sword&sorcery) and the Sleeping Beauty Trilogy by Ann Rampling (aka Anne Rice).

Right now I'm reading Alan Eckerts "Wilderness Empire" its the second in a 6 part series of narrative histories titled "The Winning of America". The first book, "The Frontiersmen" was probably my favorite book of all time.

Looks like I'm gonna have to order "The Frontiersmen"...

You were right. It was a "10" for sure. I'm starting something completely different today. Conspirita is a novel of ancient Rome by Robert Harris. It is the sequel to Imperium which I read last month. Very well researched and very well written as are all his novels.

Re-reading the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. If your a fan of Fantasy novels this is an amazing series by a very talented author.

Trying to read books but mostly doing a lot of skimming. I just picked up a book with some of the writings of John Muir, he was kind of one of the O.G. outdoors guys with kephart and them guys. and another my wife bought for me I think its called the wilderness warrior about Rosevelt and his fight to create state parks etc. etc. both great so far just havent made it as far as I might have hoped till now.- Joel

Started Nevada Barr's "Borderline" this morning. She has written a great series of books (about a dozen) that all take place in different national parks. This one features Big Bend in South Texas.

Well... that was my least favorite Nevada Barr novel. If anyone wants to read her series, don't start with that one! Now on to something that I know will be good. Today I'm starting the new one by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child (Gideon's Sword).

I've read the series through twice and loved it. I just noticed the other day that there is a new one out I've yet to read. Right now I'm going back through the Shannara series by Terry Brooks.

Patrick Rothfuss' The Name of the Wind and the finally released Wise Mans Fear Patrick is an amazing new writer and if your into fantasy at all I highly recommend his 2 books. Two of the best fantasy novels I've read in a very long time.
