what Boy Scout knives are available?

I'm looking for choices of BSA knives that are current manufacture and not made in China. The official BSA store seems to just sell China made stuff and I'd like to get my son and my nephew a good boy scout knife. They have both just started in scouting and I'd like them to have a decent knife.

I have found a few Swiss Army knives that have BSA logos and a Case BSA peanut. Most of the other BSA knives I have found are discontinued models.

I realize that there are a lot of knives available that would probably serve better as a camp knife but I am looking for something with the BSA logo on it.

Thanks for any help,
SDS

Case does make the BSA camp knife, as does Boker. Ag Russell also makes one. Just do a google search on BSA knives.

I just pulled out my trusty old B.S.A. knives circa 1985. They were made in Rhode Island, I didn't know that.

You wouldn't want them though, they are pretty beat up.:D

I could post up pics if you want to see them

I'd like to see pics of them even if noone else does.

...current manufacture and not made in China.
Case knives are Made in the USA.
Enter "Scout" in the search box: http://www.casexx.com/

Victorinox are still made in Switzerland and they have several model licensed through the BSA.

The Victornox are great users. The Case knives are good users too, but because of the higher price and higher-end handles, they're more suited to being presentation knives.

Ag Russell also makes one.
The AG Russell Scout Knife is not an Official B.S.A. licensed product. "Scout" simply refers to the name of the pattern.

The Victorinox BSA knives are definitely users. I may end up getting a couple of those at some point. I was wanting to get something a bit more traditional looking though. I did find the Case knives and they have one called the BSA junior scout that looks like it may be the winner so far.

The stuff sold at the scout store, both online and in person, is all made in china. I was pretty dissapointed to find that out.

The knives that 5.56 posted are more what I had in mind. My old scout knife was made by Camillus. They are discontinued and no longer available. I believe a lot of the older BSA knives were Ulster made?

Anyway, that Case junior scout may fill the bill here.

Thanks guys.

The "official" BSA knives bought from their website are currently made in China. Licensed products are available thru Case and Victorinox.

It looks like Case is the winner. There are several models available from Case with the BSA shield on them.

The AG Russell knife is very nice but I'd prefer something with the BSA logo on it.

Thanks for the help guys.

Case knives are my favorite, but Victorinox makes some nice models with the high quality you'd expect from them.

What I'd love to see is something like a Spyderco Delica Scout Edition with red, white, and blue mixed FRN handles. That appeals to my Spyder-oriented sense of style.

I got my nephew in Boy Scouts the Victorinox BSA Huntsman. I carry the standard Hunstman EDC, and it is a good knife. IIRC the BSA model has a Phillips screwdriver instead of a cork screw, which IMO makes it a little more useful.

I agree that the best alternatives would probably be Victorinox or a USA brand like CASE.
I'm including a couple of links to sites with nice selections... all of them with te BS logo.

Among the Victorinox, the Adventurer 111mm is the biggest and probably one of the most popular.

Good luck

Bulldog makes a Scout knife in carbon with some VERY eye catching acrylic scales(a 'safe' form of celluloid)

Although you are obviously against Chinese knives, the Rough Rider Scout I have has been excellent and in terms of build&price I can't fault it.
