The only ones I've actually played with are the Spyderco factory wave, and the zip ties on a Spyderco.

The action of my ZT/Emerson collaboration 0620 is much smoother than my actual Emerson Commander.

The one you make yourself. My waved 804cf out waves any of the 4 or 5 Emersons I've owned... by a huge freaking margin.

Forgot about the Emerson-Kershaw CQC6K, which I bought and sold.

Very nice size/lines, steel nothing to write home about.

Waved like a dream.

Never tried one (I'm much to poor) but it sure looks like the pocket openers on DDR knives would work pretty well.

I have a spyderco endura wave and a few of the KIA / Emerson collaborations and they work about the same (plenty well enough for their purpose).

Oh I forgot the Spyderco P'Kal, it probably worked the best out of every one I've tried.

I've tried Spyderco and Emerson. I decided I don't like waved knives at all, but the Spydercos waved much more consistently and were less prone to damaging my pockets. Both eventually did damage to even my Levis. The trade off with Spyderco is more pocket space consumed by the larger, more obnoxious looking wave protrusion.

A little sanding under the pocket clip helps mitigate that.

Are you familiar with a 'waved' knife?

The main issue is not the handle material nor the pocket clip eating the pants pocket (though no doubt some complain about that as well) - its the wave function.

It grips the pocket material and opens the knife, when you yank it out of the pocket

Note the protrusion (small 'horn' at the end of the blade, where it meets the handle) on the spine of the Emerson here - thats the wave;

Some claim the handle material is also too abrasive - Im not one of them.

It's not the wave, it's the rough g10 that eats the pockets. Your pockets can easily take the "horn", sandpaper rubbing jean material quickly takes said material away.

Opens bottles like a pro, waves in any type of pocket jeans, 5.11 taclite pro pants, sweat pants, slanted pockets...anything. It's been my main edc for a year? I forgot ha

No comment (lol)

Thats frikken funny!! Nice won CM:thumbsup:
Cheers

To address the OP the only wave knife I have had is a Emerson Specwar with smooth scales. Works really well. My biggest gripe about it is I feel like you need space around you to effectively deploy it. If there is somebody(thing) next to you it is kinda difficult to use the wave. Same for sitting. Just my two pennies.
Cheers

Each devours a different part of the meal. The rough g10 will eat the inside where the scales touch the fabric. The wave will tear at the threads that attach the pocket to the pant leg.

Some claim dimished wear using 'correct technique' but the wave is metal yanking at cloth - and that will (eventually) leave a mark.

Clips have been mentioned - even standard clips on non-waved knives other than Emerson will eventually lead to wear of the pants material, no matter how rounded the clips is.

You cant constantly remove a clipped or waved knife from the pocket without eventually have some wear/signs from that.
