Interesting contributions for the forumites.

I rarely buy anything based purely on brand and reputation, but I do have a couple of exceptions:
CZ and Browning firearms,
Spyderco and Chris Reeve knives.

(I like Apple stuff too, but it doesn't always live up to its reputation.)

I trust brands based on how their customer service treats me. I'm pretty skeptical of most things I buy, and if something is wrong that I find unacceptable and that it would be acceptable to get it fixed by the company I will. Don't worry if it can go wrong it did, I have plenty of customer service miles.

Craftsman has done well by me.
Apple has been very good. Mice to iPhones have been replaced for free under warranty hassle free.
Incase as well.
I don't LOVE foreign cars but my Mitsubishi has done well by me.
Surefire has always been great.
Strider is great.
Benchmade has been good.

While the original product wasn't always good they worked to fix issues. That is what makes a company a good company in my opinion.

Not trust:
Apple (too many broken things, though iPods are nice)

Swazi Apparel
Air New Zealand (I would say this but having met some of their board I like their approach to running an airline, and that's what matters)

Snap On Tools
Toyota
Honda (2 & 4 wheels)
Victorinox (wouldn't be here otherwise)
Nikon (maybe less so lately)
Vibram
Drager
Magimix
Global (also in the kitchen)

Interesting nobody has mention a drug company, given how much we spend on them and that some of use their products to keep alive and well...
