I was planning to ask the same question I'm thinking of importing and selling folding knives here in the Philippines. The price range will probably be from US$20 to US$150.
There are very few places here that sell quality ones, and I started ordering for myself first to see the quality before I sell them. Anyone here knows how to start a small knife business?
I think Spyderco and Benchmade will be easy to sell here.
I guess the question lends itself to varied response between folders, tac folders, fixed blades etc.. You guys are certainly helping me make a decision. Without exposing too much until I'm set up, we are in the home improvement sector of retail / commercial sales.
Now let me expand the question if I may. My original question was aimed at retail storefront, but what brands would you sell in the store compared to brands you would sell online.
I would think a line like Mantis would be better suited for online than say one of the top three.
I also think Leatherman would be a good addition outside of the original 3 for their awesome multi-tools
Benchmade, Bark River, Victorinox, AG Russell if he'd let me, Leatherman, SOG, Kershaw. Ontario, RAT, Opinel, Mora. Probably a few others too that I can't think of right now.
