What brands WILL you own?

U.S. Schrade, Canal Street, Camillus, Spyderco, A.G. Russell, some Case, Kershaw, Emerson, some CRKT; for me, the list is pretty much endless. There are a handful of brands I won't own, and some custom makers' knives I'd never own (which I stated in the other thread) but most brands have something that would interest me.

Why?
Sentimentality: U.S. Schrade & Camillus are gone now, and they (especially Schrade) were & are two of my favorite brands. (Canal Street is operated by the some of the old U.S. Schrade employees, I believe.)
Quality: fit & finish have become a LOT more important to me these days.
Purpose: I'm buying knives more for specific reasons now, like gardening, camping, whittling & carving, etc.
Customer service: A.G. Russell & Spyderco & Kershaw really stand out here. Other companies could really learn from them, especially from A.G.

thx - cpr

spyderco - for obvious reasons but mostly because i like the feel of them
custom folders - i have a soft spot
busse - biig and baad

Spyderco, for the quality of thier products, designs, spyder hole, and I like thier people.

Benchmade for pretty much the same thing as spyderco.

Leatherman, I find many uses for one when I carry one, the same with Wengers and Victorinox.

I pay for quality.

You said Spyderco becuase of the spyder hole, I was wondering doesn't the hole weaken the knife?

Overwhelmingly my knives are Benchmade, Buck and RAT Cutlery, but I will buy from just about any company that brings out a knife that peeks my interest.

Kershaw, it all started with the Leek for me. Generally excellent quality at a good price.
Spyderco, great folders. Rat- you could bet your life on them. SOG Powerlock multi tools- bomb proof and servicable. Blind horse knives, newer maker with the right ideas about customer service and really nice work knives that feel like a custom.

no. it doesnt.

Yes it does, but Spydie users don't pry with them- they do cut very well, though

I'll buy from:

Buck - Best customer service and warranty in the business, wonderful knives.

Spyderco - Second only to Buck as far as I'm concerned when it comes to CS. Their American made products are hit and miss sometimes, but they always make it right; and their Seki made knives are amazing.

Kershaw - Great CS, but right now they don't offer many models that I'm interested in, but when they do offer something I like I'll buy it.

Victorinox - Best knives for the money anywhere.

Benchmade, Spyderco, and Kershaw, Victorinox and Leatherman are all in my repertoire as knives I own and recommend. There are others of course, but I trust these the most.

All I have are Benchmade and Kershaws, so that's what I know for sure I'd buy. My 710 is still the most solid feeling knife I've held, you can tell after opening it once that it's a quality knife.

I would buy a Spyderco if there was a design that appealed to me, just based off the reception they get here.

I'd also probably buy an Mcusta knife for the same reason above, even though I like sticking to USA knives.

Spydie, Vic, Kershaw, Case. Tarditional USA or Europe slippies.

Really anyone that has something I can find a reason to buy. Spyderco and Benchmade top 2 for me. Chris Reeve and Kershaw, too.

There are some companies I probably never will buy from though, simply because they'll never offer something to my liking! CRKT, Buck, Emerson, Strider and such. I have nothing against those companies, but they have no designs for me.

Probably the one brand I would never buy from even if they had something I liked, would be Cold Steel. Something about them and the people there irks me.

I can't imagine a stress vector that wouldn't fail some other component (lock, pivot) before the blade. So no, it probably doesn't.
