What brought me to Cold Steal

It was the Master Tanto...was a kid back in the early 90s and an uncle had got a Master Tanto with brass fittings...let us kids try it out on a phone book etc. at that age i had only really used SAKs and some cheap folders, or kitchen knives, so obviously this knife really left an an impression...don't remember if there was a video or a brochure with the car door piercing...since then i always wanted one...finally in 2013 i got myself a few Tantos...

I was given this new a few years ago. Never used it. Never sharpened it. Never cut a thing with it. Sad, in that it seems a good knife. Had I received it earlier I'm sure I would have used it. Haven't decided what to do with it. Seems a good knife.

My intro to Cold Steel was the Spartan, that led to a Voyager XL. Next came the Recon-1, and most recently I couldn't help the Pocket Bushman. That Spartan was a bit of a risk as never even holding a CS product before. Bot the Spartan was everything I'd hoped for and more. Since then never had a reason to not buy a Cold Steel blade.

I still do not trust or care for frame or liner locks folding knives. I have only seen one liner lock design that I believe is reliable and my first Cold Steel Knife , which I still have, is a Ti-Lite Titanium Folding Knife. I still have not seen a frame or liner lock knife as robust as Cold Steel's Liner Lock Design

My brothers and dad always loved watching the proof videos, but my first purchase was a kobun at an NRA convention. Since then I've gotten a micro recon spear point, a large tanto voyager, a rajah 2, a roach belly, and a super edge. I think cold steel is great. I hope to get a code 4 soon, and have many others on my list.

I would be lying if I said that those goofy proof videos didn't have something to do with me becoming a Cold Steel fan.
The 4" Talwar is on my Christmas list.

My intro into CS was at the Pomona Gun Show back in the early 80's. I bought a Tanto and Lynn did the sale......I will admit that I dropped out of the family for many years, and while I am more into another brand, I still feel that CS makes great knives.

A search for a Gunstock war club turned me onto cold steel, lusted after it for a while and my wife got it for me for our first anniversary (nice). Then got myself a trench hawk an sjambok. I got a Chaos Tanto a few weeks back, was really surprised I could get it due to the knife laws in the UK! Really happy with the items I've got so far.

New to BF but not new to CS. I have a carbon v trail master, carbon v recon scout, carbon v srk, several master and magnum tantos in San Mai, carbon 5 recon tanto, and an SK5 kukri. All are great knives. I wanted the kukri with the secure ex sheath. I had to part with my carbon v kukries a few years ago and have been itching to get another. Since carbon v is long gone I read reviews and watched the abusive you tube videos on the toughness of SK5. Being a Japanese steel is a plus for me. So my big blade collection is still growing. None of my knives are safe queens and all get used. I like the fact that CS has been around over 30 years and is still going strong.

I was in a local knife shop looking at knives, they had the G10 Espada XL on special...

So I became the owner of a G10 Espada XL.

So I tried carrying it for a bit, but it was really too big for comfortable use.

So I ordered an AK-47, G10, thumb plate, solid.

But I decided I wasn't crazy about the hollow ground blade.

So I bought another Cold Steel knife... and another... and another...

Now I have about 18 Cold Steel folding knives and I haven't yet found the perfect knife. I like all of my knives though.

I also admire Spyderco knives, especially how you can get some semi-exotic steel in a relatively cheap package, but my hands don't seem particularly Spyderco shaped. Moreover Spyderco knives often seem to be the same cake made with different ingredients, while Cold Steel seem to be more a case of a different cake made with the same ingredients. Given the choice between my large clip point Voyager (very close to the perfect knife in my view) and my VG-10 Endura, I'll pick the Voyager every time. I recently bought a ZDP Ladybug, and while it's a beautiful little knife I'd rather carry the Kudu I sharpened to 30° inclusive.

I might have to look at a Code 4 clip point, although it's probably similar to my Black Rock Folding Hunter in blade style.
