Nah, I've been carrying my 898 auto Impact every day. I think it's a Mary Poppins knife...practically perfectStag 112 and a 501....I'm gonna have to change it up just for this thread
Got my old 2 dot finger-groove 112 on my hip today. Touched her up earlier this morning on my vintage Washita oil stone and managed to get a hair popp'n edge in only a dozen licks or so..![]()

Did you grind the finger grooves into your 2 dot 112 yourself?
Or did you have someone else do it for you?
I have several and I was thinking about doing that to one.
Any chance for a picture?I had it done by a friend of mine who owned a machine shop and did a little knife restoration work. It came out well done in the end. The end result is pretty subtle and fit the hand well.
Any chance for a picture?
It would be nice to view it before I begin the project.
No camera that works. My camera broke a while back..
But my friend used his industrial lathe as his main tool for the project and then a series of buffing wheels to finish as I recall.
Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately I don't have a lathe.
I have in mind creating a jig that will duplicate the fingers grooves of a current production 112.
That sounds like it will work also, although I imagine the degree of difficulty will be more intense. If you don't mind me asking, what tool are you going to use to remove the material?
My first thought was to use a drum sander, such as this.I would select the drum that duplicates the radius of the finger grooves on a conventional 112.I could construct a crude jig or use a template that I could clamp to the 2 dot and follow the template with the selected drum.
Sounds like that'll work fine. Go slowly, be careful and good luck!
