Ten years?!!? Crikey! who made them? I usually go through 1-2 pair a year between work boots and lighter hiking boots. My new boots came yesterday! Same as the ones that I retired a couple months ago. Those had over ten years on them.

They're Irish Setters. Made by Red Wing. They have Goodyear welts, so they can be resoled. The pair that I just retired were worn just about every day, about nine months a year, and were resoled twice. My wife had been after me to get rid of them for a long time. Just like my old Carhart jacket.Ten years?!!? Crikey! who made them? I usually go through 1-2 pair a year between work boots and lighter hiking boots.
These are only a couple weeks old. First pair of Keens. I'm not quite sold on them yet. Definitely a good quality pair but I'm hurting from them. Got some insoles over the weekend hopefully that helps.

One of my favorite 112s.
If I ever order another knife from the Custom Shop, I think it'll have black palm handlesWell 2025 is off to a great start! I added another Buck Knives Custom Shop Knife to the collection. The Black Palm Wood is absolutely beautiful with Brass Bolsters.View attachment 2754212View attachment 2754213

I tried the USA made Redwing work boots. After about 5 minutes walking a blister was developing on my right heel. They went back. I wore Irish Setters year ago when I hunted a lot. What's your trick for keeping the brass so nice? I swear my brass 110's and 112's go from Flitz shiny to dull in about 5 minutes.
There's no trick. It's just the angle or the lighting. It's been carried & used every day since it came, five months ago, and I've never polished it. This is why I love brass, it just gets better looking with age. There's no trick. It's just the angle or the lighting. It's been carried & used every day since it came, five months ago, and I've never polished it. Here's a pic from Monday, when it was cloudy:
