What Buck are you carrying today?

I'll bite. What is the tool (behind your awesome Buck)?
It's an antique cabinet maker's mortice/marking gauge, for making furniture or doors, etc, that use mortice & tenon construction. There's undoubtedly a clearer way to explain this, but I'll give it a shot. The wooden block is adjusted to where you want to chisel out the mortice on your piece of wood. Then you adjust the pins to the desired width (opening) of the mortice, scribe your wood, and chisel the mortice out. After set up, you can use it so all the mortices on whatever piece of furniture you're making, will all be the same. Here's a better look at the adjustment & the scribe pins. (Sorry for the poor pics quality)

And there's a simpler carpenter version.

Changed from the 415 today.

The darned thing has a point on the butt that digs into my side when I move around.........so, although it's a wonderful knife, I decided to go back to my old 112 which carries so nice.

Note the pointy butt. I finally couldn't take it any more. :)

Now I'm carrying in total comfort again with my old three dot.

It's over 45 years old and has some scars, but I like it.
