My freighter friend had a buddy that did that.
...He didn't pay for many drinks back in the day when we all went snowmobiling.

Life’s too short to waste time fussing with cheap Christmas lights, but sometimes I just can’t let go. And sometimes curiosity kills the cat. Either way, if you’ve double-checked every bulb in a faulty string of LED Christmas lights, don’t overlook the possibility that one of the resistors might be to blame. Now you know. And knowing is half the battle! LOL!

I had to mess with two of the strings for the front porch this year. After playing with them for a few minutes, I just pitched those two, and I still had enough for the perimeter. Those things will probably be going on sale for a few dollars for a 100 bulb string any day now. Mine are maybe 20 years old, so I may just pick up all new ones.
