I like the design and general feel of the 110 but find it too heavy and maybe just a hair too large for my EDC what would you all recommend and why?

Copper & Clad aluminum 110
Standard 112
Bucklites

Why? They're all lighter and/or smaller. :)

A 112 ecolite paperstone. Nice feel, lighter weight and a little smaller than the 110.

This is not the best picture of these models but the 110 aluminum, the ecolite 110's and the titanium 560 are show from top to bottom.

112 is something I have missed in my searches so will look into it I have also looked at the 501 it is a smaller knife than than 112 I believe but definitely looks promising.

VorpalRain VorpalRain lol but I won't be carrying on my belt as I intend to carry in pocket most of the time

IMO, the difference in feel between the 110 and the 112 is tremendous although the actual weight isn't that much different.

I generally carry a 110 though.

I think something that's easy to drop in your pocket without feeling like you have too little knife is a 500 series. Thinner and friendlier lines than a 112, but still plenty of blade.

You said that the 110 is "a hair too large." The 501 is more than a hair smaller than the 110, so if you like the 110, but you want something just a little smaller, a 112 or 500 would be closer in size. But then, you certainly won't go wrong with a 501, either. I hope that helps.

I agree with the 500. Plenty of knife and it's slim size fits perfect in the pocket. The 110 and 112 are too big for Pocket carry in my opinion. You won't go wrong with the 500.

Yeah I guess I wish there was something with the weight and feel of the 500 series but a little more blade than the 501 which is the longest blade I can find of the 500 series.

The 500 Duke has a 3" blade. Same as a 112, but a drop point. It's thinner than a 112 and has a nice contour. Great for pocket carry.

I need to get these options in hand to really know but I like to 500 and 501 best based on specs and how they look.

Another choice would be a 532 531. .Basically 110 /112 size but thinner and lighter. Chuck Buck liked them and to me they are a little more elegant. If you are not using it for a pry bar both are more than tough enough for everyday use. My very first Buck was a 501 in the early 80's way before I started to collect Buck knives. Truth be told a 501 will do 90% of the time for EDC use. I held a 500 for the first time in 2009 at the Blade show and if I had not committed to collecting the 112 I would have gone with the 500..A really nice well balanced EDC.

One of these days I will pick up a 500. Although I usually carry a 112, I was surprised at how the aluminum 110 felt easier to fit in the pocket just because of the weight difference (almost half), even though it's the exact same size. I prefer the 110 in general, but prefer the slightly smaller 112 for my suburban EDC.

That being said, the finger groove 112 seems a tad more diminutive in hand than the plain 112. If you feel the 112 is pretty close to what you want, and prefer those thick handles to the 500, the FG 112 might be that slight difference you are looking for. I don't regret any of my 110 and 112 purchases.
