The 500 is an odd bird to me. The 501 was one of the only knives that I fell in love with as soon as I got it, so I thought the duke was going to be even better. Not so much for me. There's just something about the blade to handle ratio that throws it off. Maybe the sharpener took a tiny bit too much at the factory....but I'm not really sure. That and I think the bolsters could be a little smaller. Of course these are all cosmetic, nit picky things that may not bother anyone else. I love 110's and 112's as well. Lately I've been carrying a C&C 112 (black micarta, s30v drop point) and I love it. I didn't like the drop point at first but it's grown on me. Everyone has offered some great points so far and my input is this....if you like sheaths the 112 can't be beat and if you pocket carry the 500 series is probably the way to go. Or you can do what I do, keep a 112 or 110 on your belt and throw a 501 in your pocket....and a 303 in your other pocket
