I have been thinking of getting a vehicle specific knife for my truck.

I've had a few, but I usually end up taking them out as the brass tarnished, the knife was too nice to be delegated to that job,
or I just plain didn't like the knife.

I'm thinking of getting a Bucklite Max 685 large fixed blade.
It's stainless, rubber handled and should do most any job needed, but yet be reasonably priced.

I thought it might be interesting to inquire as to what others are using for this purpose. Or, maybe what you would want.

Thanks.

I've had various 'Truck Buck' over the years.. My favorite was a camping set with a axe but I gifted it to my son. Right now it's a 653 and sometimes I slip a 620 in the pocket behind the passenger seat. I always have a one or two folders (usually 112's) but for a few years I had one of Bucks China multitool's with the slide out pliers. But always a larger fixed blade Buck

I think Bucklite Max 685 is an excellent choice. For the price, I would take a 684 along too.

I have the similar size and shape 692 Vanguard in my center console. I figure the rubber grip will be helpful in most situations.

I also have a 102, a 110, a 112 and several other knives in my truck. I don't want to explain the need for all of them if I get pulled over but I will.

There is a Buck 286 or 285 Bantam in every glove box and/or vehicle tool kit I own. Inexpensive enough that losing and abusing one won't hurt as bad. A very capable knife. A 104 Compadre is a regular rider in the truck. It doesn't get used as often but when a fixed blade is desired it is up to it.

Ahh no Buck at the present time but i have a couple 110LT’s and a 112LT in nylon sheaths i’m storing in a box that will now fill the vehicle duty in stellar fashion. The Swedish fixed puukka’s will still remain in that role as well as the Italian axes.

Not to mention the chainsaw and hockey mask
in the trunk?? 😂

Living and working in the ATL, I have lost some equipment to theft including a nice Monte Carlo SS, so I try to not keep things I think highly of in my vehicle. Currently I keep a multitool for road use and a couple of non-Buck fixed blades. But I agree that the Bucklite Max Large is a great choice.

Usually leave the 1st gen Bucklite max w/guthook in the console. Have kept an ole 110 in the door. 539 is often in the console, sometimes a 113. And like Jb a 27" machete behind the seat and a 24" in back of the truck.
I keep meaning to put the 632 in as a designated spot, but just havn't.
