What budget knife have you been suprised by, and why? Would you purchase this knife again?

For sake of this discussion, we will define a budget knife as as any knife that you paid less than 50 dollars for, before tax or shipping fees. Oh, you also have to own, or have owned the knife in the past.

For me, it is the discontinued CRKT Prowler. I know the steel is not very good and it's only a liner lock, but it fits my hand and I find that in many ways I prefer it over my Benchmade Griptilian. It is easy to open wearing heavy work gloves.

I had already heard plenty of good review but the RAT model 2 completely met my expectations of an amazing knife and at under $30 it is a great value

My condor Bushlore really surprised me. It felt great in my hand and did the job it was designed for.

I can't say that I'd buy it again. At the same time frame in my knife obsession yes. Now I'm on to more custom pieces.

Morakniv Companion

15 dollars for a 4.1" fixed blade knife with a awesome sheath, made in Sweden. These things scream to get used.

Reviews on Amazon, and YouTube prove that its an amazing "bang for buck" knife.

Crkt endorser. Assisted open that snaps out hard. It motivated me to move to autos. Really nice knife for the money.

I think I've been most surprised by a Buck 301 I won at auction for less than $20 delivered. It has a nice charcoal grey "Diamondwood" cover and it fills my hand (comfortable in use) yet doesn't overwhelm the pocket.

After breaking the sharp corners, shaping the spey blade into a spear and the sheepfoot into a wharncliff (personalized) it has become one of my top 10 favorites.

I'd definitely buy another 301 but it wouldn't be the same. Buck no longer makes the 301 in "Charcoal Diamondwood". I glad I have mine.:D:thumbup::thumbup:

Rat 1 and my 3 Cold Steel folders (mini and regular Recon and American Lawman). IMHO, they are worth WAY more than I paid for them and outperform many knives that cost a lot more.

Kershaw Thermite.

I cut down a small tree with it as an experiment (6'' diameter) and it could still cut printer paper, albeit sloppily. The lockup only moved maybe 1mm.

for under $30, I picked up the Buck Vantage, and I have to say it is a very impressive knife. good feel in the hand, slim in the pocket, and smooth as butter.

Svord Peasant Mini , I've only had this thing a week and it has impressed me a lot .
They are really cheap , simple , sharp .

Kershaw Chill, SS Zing, Ontario Rat 1, Pardue Utilitac 2, Opinel 8, BK14, SAK Hiker, CRKT Zillatool. Anza 13 was just over $50 but a great lil classy fixed that is a slicey lil monster, and price to performance on the Moras is almost impossible to beat.

Mora companion for the price point by far! Always have one on me for work, one in the truck and one in every backpack.
Rat 2 as a second place.

The most suprised i was with the Sanrenmu G605, the cheapest knife out of my collection, now the most carried (little) knife out of my collection, go figure^^...
