What Bura did in his spare time. Pix and deal.

Is that a fuller I see under the rust? After noticing it, if indeed it is a fuller, it appears that there is one on the non-rusty side as well, just can't make it out as well, or is my eyes playing tricks on me?

It sure looks like it to me Edutsi...would sure explain the light weight! :D

Nasty! WHattadeal! Soon, it will have a Nasty Edge!

:D Recontouring the blade to full convex will take care of 90% of the rust, and I will satin finish the fullers. It should make for a nice contrast to the blade!

We need a few prepays to get the project going. I think we can sell this rig for $195 and come out okay. Do we want an order thread?

Wow! Would it be named like others have been?

Rod Allen Hanshee
....the Nasty Sword? :D :D :D

I like the sword's katana style with samui tip style. The scabbard is nice and sleek. The handle and hilt are different. Very nice for a first time piece of metal work.
I think however think some brass accent to the scabbard would have been nice. The Hilt could be done in a feather form with markings to provide more of a flare and the back end of the handle could have been more rounded in both directions and a continuous bass back strip from hilt to inside of handle.

I think Bura should experiment on expanding his style and ask for some input on improvements, this could become a marketable item. Rice wise I think $125 for a basic model is fair, but the more accents the higher the price.

I won't be able to prepay until next month. I can check again then. In the meantime, you want to give us some feedback, Nasty?

$125 for a hand forged non-blem sword is just fair? If this one had five times the rust that it does $125 would still be a steal. Of all of the UBBB that I have seen in my little more then a year here this has to be at the top of the list for bargains. This one would have gotten $195 much less one that was in perfect condition. Sorry if this came across as harsh but sometimes I think that Uncle Bill takes too good of care of us here in the forum often times. Don't get me wrong I love the deals as much as the next guy and have taken advantage of the UBBB many, many times but still feel that often the items are under priced for the great blades that they are.

Yup. You can get a much smaller blade from some other makers for about $100, that would cost another 20$ or more shipping, would take 2 weeks or more to be delivered, that wouldn't be built as sturdily, and that was, in general a PITA to order.

This sword was a steal at this price, and $195 for a hand-made sword of this size and quality, DELIVERED, is incredible. Hell, try finding someone to make a scabbard like this by hand! If you can, tell us how much it costs!!!!

(Uncle Bill, that does raise a question: if these were ordered, would they have the metal scabbard? While it's incredible craftsmanship, it's got to be very time consuming. I do appreciate it, but the sword's the thing I'm most interested in.)

I have to agree with Mark. Unless Uncle Bill is pulling some hanky-panky with Photoshop ;) , which I doubt, this is just an incredible deal. I have seen and used Bura's work firsthand; he truly is a master in every sense of the word. I've no doubt this sword does his name proud.

Spectre - I sure will...is it okay if I report on it *after* I reprofile it to a full convex, do a bit of work on the grip, etc? I'll give first impressions, but this one, I plan on fiddling with!

Shark - Whew! Lucky for us all you weren't the one to buy it, eh? In other forums, your degradation of *MY* new purchase *that I didn't ask for* would certainly label you as a troll. Please feel free to buy anything *you* want and then trash it...but if it's mine, take your opinions about it and piss off.

Everyone else in the Cantina, relax...I'm not slapping leather. I don't need anyone else's opinons to boost my sense of self esteem, although the sense of comeraderie is nice. As usual, most of you have nice things to say, if for no other reason than to share in my pleasure of a new blade. That brotherhood is what keeps me here, and most of you (especially the MWKK attendees) know that. Please do us all a favor and leave this thread...in fact, Rusty, please lock it. As I've done before, I am walking away from this now.
