What is it like to use

Pretty light weight with 1/8" stock. The thinner stock makes it a good slicer. 154CM is a good stainless steel if that's important...some may want carbon but there's nothing wrong with a high quality stainless. Sharpened spine throws sparks well. It does fair at chopping with the thin blade if you use a lanyard but isn't exceptional in that role. I prefer knives to do knife jobs & will use an ax for chopping or a large blade like an Esee Junglas. For a smaller, more handy & general use knife, I prefer 1/8" or 5/32" stock. This knife did well in that capacity. Feather sticks were easy & the spear point was strong enough to drill wood well.

The Micarta scales are nice. They fit my hand well and weren't too blocky as they round off over edges. The pommel hooks a bit to help grip at the heel. The sheath was decent. It's nylon with a hard inner piece. I made a kydex sheath for it though so I can't really comment on the sheath durability.

It's a great option in the $100 range. I gave mine to my brother recently as I upgraded to a GSO 4.1 in 3V

Bark River has 2 knives with the name "bushcraft", and they are both great for bushcrafting, as are their Aurora and Liten Bror. (I also like their now discontinued Kephart FT) The many MORA knives are a bargain at their price points, and whilke I have not used the TOPS BOB or CONDOR, I imagine they are decent too.

(FK2) Farmers Knife 5 "
-$100. L6 steel differentially heat treated, may need further finishing in sharpening, polishing & wrapping handle with bicycle handlebar tape. Ideal for castrating livestock & up to sheep/pig sized slaughter & basic butchery.

My top 3 I cycle through on outings are;

1. Tops BoB/fieldcraft
2. Tops BoB/ fieldcraft
3. Tops BoB/ fieldcraft

Seriously though it's a great knife, right around your price point. I own almost a dozen specific to bushcraft blades, and that BoB has the most mileage.

Wait and save another $40 towards an Esse 6($140).......last fixed blade you will ever need.......my opinion of course

The BK 16 and the BK2 are so close in size, I personally like to have my knives to be different purposed. For my bushcraft/survival knife I went with the Esee4. It's handle is slightly shorter than the BK 16 but they serve the same purpose and the same performance.
^^^If you want a big knife to go along with your BK 16 I second the Esee 6

Esee6 - BK2

Overall Length: 11.75 - 10.5"
Thickness: .188" - .25"
